Created Players Not Saving Edits and Disappearing From Franchise Mode

Platform: [PS5]
Edition: Standard Edition
Mode: Franchise
Roster: Custom roster

I’m experiencing what I believe is a serious Franchise Mode issue involving created players.

Created-player edits are not saving, and created players are randomly disappearing from my Franchise roster.

I’ve played Madden for many years and have never experienced this issue before. This isn’t something that happens after several seasons or after advancing deep into a franchise. In my case, I haven’t even advanced a week.

I’ve experienced the following:

Created-player edits don’t save

I can create a player and make changes to things such as their jersey number, equipment, development trait, etc., but the changes do not persist after saving.

I have also confirmed that this issue does not appear to affect existing NFL players. I can edit a real NFL player’s number, equipment, and other available settings in Franchise Mode, and those changes save correctly. The problem appears to be specifically related to created players.

Created players can completely disappear

Players that I specifically created and placed on my roster can subsequently disappear from the Franchise roster entirely. They aren’t simply removed from the depth chart. They are no longer there.

This is happening immediately

I haven’t advanced into the regular season or played through multiple weeks. This is occurring during the initial Franchise setup/preseason period.

I tested this with a single throwaway created player rather than my custom roster, and I experienced the same problem. This tells me that the issue is not specific to the custom roster I spent time creating.

I also completely deleted and reinstalled Madden NFL 27 to see if the issue was related to a corrupted installation. After reinstalling the game, I tested the issue again with a single throwaway created player, and I am still experiencing the same problem.

This is particularly frustrating because I spent a significant amount of time building a custom roster for my Chicago Bears Franchise. I created multiple players with specific attributes, positions, numbers, equipment and roles, only for some of them to disappear.

I understand that launch-day bugs happen. Minor gameplay issues, visual glitches, animations, etc. are unfortunately part of launching a complicated sports game.

But created-player persistence is a fundamental Franchise feature.

If I can’t trust the game to save changes to a created player or even keep that player on my roster, it makes it extremely difficult to invest time into a long-term Franchise.

The August 10 title update included several Franchise fixes, but I’m still experiencing these created-player issues after the update.

Can EA please confirm that this issue is being investigated and provide an update on when we can expect a fix?

I really want to play Madden NFL 27 and start my Bears Franchise. I just don’t want to spend several more hours rebuilding my roster only to have the game delete those players again.

This needs to be addressed as soon as possible.

  • Update: I completely deleted and reinstalled Madden NFL 27 and tested the issue again with a single throwaway created player. Unfortunately, the same problem is still occurring. Edits to the created player are still not saving.

I have now ruled out the issue being specific to my custom Bears roster or a corrupted game installation. Editing existing NFL players continues to work correctly, while created-player edits do not persist.

At this point, I would really appreciate confirmation from EA that this is a known issue being investigated.
