Impossible to have fun

I haven't touched a football game for probably 15 years -- but seeing my nephew play CFB 27 made me buy it myself and I've had a blast playing RTG.

I then get the free 10 hour trial of Madden and imported my player into superstar.

I get drafted to the Titans, then play my first games...

The wear & tear system is ridiculous -- when I played IRL college football, I wasn't losing 10% of my speed after ONE single play. This makes it impossible to play 12 minute quarters which I did in CFB 27. Thankfully RTG is an offline mode that allows for modding, so I could offset the wear & tear and actually have FUN playing the game.

Suction tackles are mind boggling. I had a few here and there in RTG, but madden is nearly an inescapable black hole of defenders unless you have a 10 foot gap.

My quesrter back has never heard of throwing the ball away. It absolutely kills drives and makes me realize that there are so many scripted / per-determined moments to force a loss. Dropped balls from open receivers, defenders coming out of nowhere, just insane predetermined outcomes.

Screen plays don't work at all. The HB gets suctioned tackled because his route is 5' long, so the DE gets him EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Same goes with direct to HB snaps. An absolute waste of a play, would be better if they were completely out of the game.

I tried replaying my 2nd game of the season about 7 times to do absolutely everything perfect. Timed all my catches perfectly, did EVERYTHING I could to put the team on my back (playing on All-Madden) with the 3 plays the OC gives you at the start of your career, and every single time we destroy a drive.

OH YEAH!! I JUST REMEMBERED!!!!!!! WE DIDN'T MAKE 4 FIELD GOALS WHEN WE AT THE GOAL LINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I made it 5 hours into the game until, with extreme pleasure, I uninstalled it.

I want to start writing to state politicians and enforce an anti-trust campaign against EA from boxing out competitors from using NFL licensing.

The sports games industry desperately needs steep competition to elevate this slop from ever being put out ever again.

Year after year I hear how horrific these games are and how greedy EA is for releasing these entirely broken games. CFB 27 made me get back into football after turning my back on the sport as a whole for many years. I'm going to spend money on Charger gear this year, but I won't ever pay a dime to EA ever again. CFB 27 will be my game of choice and I'll ride those $70 for years. I'm so glad I didn't buy Madden.

  • turn off Wear and Tare.  You'll have more fun.

the OLine blocking is just broken in 27 right now.  Hope they fix it.
