Superstar Needs to Stop Scripting Adversity and Just Let Us Play Football

I’ve had Madden 27 for two days and I’m already at the point where I turned the game off.

Superstar is a great concept. The problem is EA keeps trying to manufacture “Superstar moments” instead of just letting us play football.

I just played the forced snow situation game and my team fumbled SIX times. These weren’t six mistakes by my QB. AI-controlled teammates repeatedly fumbled while the opposing team’s simulated possessions somehow weren’t affected anywhere near the same way.

And this isn’t just about one snow game. Superstar keeps forcing the same types of scripted situations season after season. Players get pulled from games. The same position gets conveniently injured for a game. Weather games introduce ridiculous modifiers. Situations are manufactured to create adversity whether the actual season calls for it or not.

If injuries and unusual circumstances happen naturally through the normal game engine, great. That’s football. But when similar scenarios keep appearing every season because Superstar apparently needs a storyline, it stops feeling organic.

The frustrating part is that EA already has the blueprint: College Football 27 Road to Glory.

Road to Glory is **bleep** near perfect in this respect. It lets me control one player, develop him, compete for a starting job, play the schedule and experience whatever happens naturally during the season. It doesn’t constantly interrupt the experience to manufacture adversity.

Why can’t Superstar do the same thing?

Give us Franchise from the perspective of ONE PLAYER.

Give us practices, progression, depth-chart competition, contracts, trades, injuries, awards, playoffs, championships and retirement. Let injuries and weather occur naturally. Let good and bad games happen because of football.

Then get out of the way and LET US PLAY.

Superstar does not need scripted adversity to make it interesting. Being an NFL player IS the experience.

You have a great platform and a great concept here. Stop overengineering it every year.

At minimum, give players an option to disable Situation Games and scripted scenarios entirely. Those who enjoy them can leave them on. Those of us who want an organic NFL career can turn them off.

I shouldn’t be two days into a new Madden and already considering putting the game down because the mode keeps interfering with the part I actually bought the game for:

Playing football.

Ive decided I’m done with the game I til meaningful updates are made through patches… wastes my money again this year… against my better judgment.
