After PS5 Upgrade, All In-Game Modes Have Loud Feedback/Distortion Audio

Do you use a combination of speakers and headset? Can you describe your audio setup and what audio configuration do you have on your PS5?

Runs through Yamaha receiver

Audio: HDMI device 

Device Type: AV amplifier 

5.1 ch 

Audio works for in menu screens and other games; but once you pull up any in game mode, screeching feedback through speakers.

Have you played around with the audio settings for the PS5 to see if the results change if you swap them to different settings and also check to make sure they match up in Madden?

I've tried as you suggested, no luck. Main screen is fine, music plays, etc. But the minute I go into any game mode and start playing, distortion starts. In game menu it fades out and is fine, but back into game mode it starts. All other PS4 and PS5 games have no problems. The audio from controllers works fine.

Can you try disabling the speakers from the controller to see if that helps with this? It has to be done from the PS5 settings. You're running a custom setup and I've tried doing some research in other game forums and can't find others with a similar issue, so this might take some back and forth to see what we can do to make it work without too many adjustments that can impact your other games.

Thanks again for your help and patience. We have tried all of your suggestions, even doing them with other games. Those games work and audio is fine, but Madden still has screeching feedback during the game only. While in gameplay, if we pause or go to menu, the sound stops as well. But it immediately resumes when starting actual gameplay. 

ok i figured out what you have to do. Go to settings then sounds and change Audio  output/ hdmi device type to av amplifier and number of channels right  below to 7.1 

Thanks for your help, but no luck. I am running a 5.1 Surround through a Yamaha amp, tried just about every config I can think of... just won't work. Everything fine except gameplay... controller speaker works fine, just not game sound.

Summarize your bug During Franchise Mode (Owner Mode) with the Buffalo Bills, I built a new domed stadium instead of the typical open air stadium that the Bills usually play in. After scoring a TD or field goal, the Bills celebration song plays but sounds distorted and muffled. Also during this distorted sound bite, the play by play announcers are almost inaudible as the distorted Build celebration song plays overtop of their conversation.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? 1) Create a franchise with the Buffalo Bills 2) Build a new stadium for the team, selecting the Deluxe Hybrid style stadium 3) Sim the season until the new stadium is built 4) While playing on the new stadium, score a touchdown it field goal. After the score, the celebration song should play and come out distorted. The play by play announcers will also begin to talk, but will be almost inaudible as the distorted music is playing overtop of their conversation.
What happens when the bug occurs? Bills scoring celebration song is distorted and plays overtop of the play by play announcers conversation, making them almost inaudible.
What do you expect to see? 1) Non-distorted Bills scoring celebration song regardless of stadium type 2) Play by Play announcers conversation is not drowned out by the scoring celebration song.
