I just got the game and checked to see if I had the latest update. I do have the latest update. I am typing this on Sept. 24 2019. I ran into the same issue in my first franchise season.
So - Thanks to reading this thread, I think I have a good workaround.. so Thank you!
I went into the Team Salary screen on my Eagles and focused on a player who entered the renegotiation phase. Jason Peters for example. Edited him in his player salary screen increasing his contract length by one year. That's all I did. Then I went out of that screen back into the Weekly Salary Renegotiation screen (separate screen). He is no longer asking for renegotiation; he is now not a player asking to renegotiate. And when I go back into Team salaries he is now signed for 2 years...
Now.. He is signed for alot less money and my cap number actually went up on the Team Salary screen.
This is NOT realistic. Hopefully we see a fix. My cap increases to my benefit. however we shall see if I lose him after I am done this my first franchise season.
I have done the same for Agholor, Darby and Jordan Howard on the Eagles increasing length by two years this time and my cap room went up each time so I may need to change some math and give these guys money. All I did is increase the contract length a year.
We shall see how this plays out and I will post back to see if I lost these guys after season one or not.
