Cannot Re-sign Players with Expiring Contracts

The problem a lot of the teams you all are talking about have is that a lot of the players that are under contract for more than one year have salaries that greatly increase from 2019 to 2020. 

For example:  Fletcher Cox he’s from $11.9m to $23.m, an increase of $12m.  Ertz goes up about $7m, Graham goes up about $10m, and so on totaling about $80 million in increases from 2019-2020.

The total of the expiring contracts is about $46m (everybody on the last year of their contract). 

It’s not really a glitch, a lot of teams have this problem with contracts from 2019-2020 and I don’t really have a solution, but it’s why I fantasy draft my franchises

The problem with the Eagles (and several other teams) is that they have a lot of players that have salary increases from 2019 to 2020.  Players like Fletcher Cox ($11.9m in 2019 goes to 23.9m in 2020), Zach Ertz ($6.29m in 2019 goes to $13.2m in 2020), and Brandon Graham ($3.5m in 2019 goes to $13.2m in 2020) just to name a few.  The total increase from 2019 to 2020 is roughly $80m, and the expiring contracts are only about $46, and the cap space is about 42m (I simulated through the preseason to get these numbers).  This leaves you about $8m in cap space for the 2020 season (using the Eagles as the example, several other teams have a similar cap situation). 

I am not sure of the best way to remedy this, but it is not a glitch or a problem with programming, it is a problem with the way the salaries are structured at the start of the first season.  When you get past the first season, everything runs pretty smooth, but this is a reason I typically do a fantasy draft to begin my franchises (I also just like putting together my roster how I like).

It would be nice if in next year's game EA would tweak the contract offers so we can structure contracts in more than one way, and even restructure contracts.

Did there ever end up being a solution? I'm trying to use the Bears, but never even getting the option for people to resign. They are immediately not intrested Is it a bug or the the position my is in? I love franchise and this is ruining it.

I seriously can’t comprehend how this hasn’t been addressed by now.  I have the exact same issue with the Bears while playing an online franchise with a friend.   1st season, go to free agency and it shows 25.5 million available cap space.  Go to re sign Travathan, and it shows I only have like 900k or something like that.  This is completely broken, and seeing as to how this has been complained about for over a year, EA obviously doesn’t care.  Just keep focusing on the MUT $$ or whatever other stupid modes they add in the next version.   I’m glad I had this through EA Access and didn’t actually buy it, and it’s being added to Gamepass soon, because there is no chance I’m ever spending money on a madden game again.  

I’m in a league with a friend playing with the chiefs and he is having this same issue. 60 million in cap space just can’t resign anyone already on the roster. He can add drop free agents.  Disappointed because we are in week 11 and myself and others have done a lot of work to make our teams the way we want them. This issue hasn’t changed and it has been a year since these posts were brought up. Still no fix?

Issue still is not fixed

This is happening to me with the Chiefs. My players come up to resign and then it doesn't let me do anything. It goes straight to not interested. 10 players so far, I am in week 11.  Need help. ea support told me to "go to salaries screen and sort the current year and you will notice player's year salary will be crunched in to one year. You would have to manually edit the contract to what you signed him to and get it fixed it." That is not working either.
