catching and intercepting pass in madden 16

i can't get the "aggressive catch" and "play receiver concepts" down at all. On offense, when i'm in great position to catch the deep ball and I hit aggressive catch and the defenders animation takes over and he intercepts it. Same thing happens when i'm playing defense. If someone throws a deep ball on me and my cornerback is in great position to make the interception, the receivers animation will somehow take over and he'll make the play over on top of me. What exactly dictates wether a catch or interception will be made? clearly having the best position has nothing to do with it and it happens to me with receivers and DB's who aren't even good!
