CPU not assisting in movement post snap

Product: Madden 18
Platform:Sony Playstation 4
Which console generation do you have? PlayStation 4
Which mode has this happened in? Franchise Mode
Which part of the mode? Offline
Summarize your bug When playing USER vs USER in Franchise mode, the CPU will not assist moving the defensive player after the snap like they always have in past maddens if the user does not attempt to move the defender their selves. I like to play as both teams and do an entire season playing every game, but Franchise mode will still not allow users to use the controller select option mid franchise for some reason, so I have to connect two controllers and control offense only and randomly pick plays for the defense.
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Start a game and do not attempt to control the defender post snap, the CPU will not assist you in player movement.
What happens when the bug occurs? The controlled player will just stand still and not interact with the play at all.
What do you expect to see? The CPU to help assist the player in movement before taking back control themselves.
What is your gamertag/PSN ID? xKbS_Mikey-_-

I have this exact same problem. When I click on a LB, CB or Safety presnap, and put my controller down, the CPU will not control the player I have selected, postsnap. He will stand still and let the receiver or running back just go right by him with no effort to move. I have not had this problem with blitzing defenders, only defenders in pass coverage. I have an XBOX ONE. This issue occurs for me ever game that I have played so far.

I have the EXACT OPPOSITE problem.  The CPU will not let me control my player.  I have turned all of the auto assist features off but the dam CPU still moves my player to his route based on the play called even though I see an open hole somewhere else.  I try to hit the hole but the CPU forces my player to the exact route in the play even though that hole is not there.  It runs me right into the back of my offense line.  Or on defense I try to get behind the line to sack the QB but the CPU forces my player out into coverage because that is what the play called shows.  I cannot control the player I am supposedly controlling.

  • I just posted about this problem as well. I had thought before seeing this that it was just when it was my cb selected, but testing it now it can do it having it on any defensive player. It doesn't seem to happen 100% of the time, though, but still high, like 75-80%. Can't pin down any particular type of play, either; runs, passes, in zone or man, can still glitch out. HUGH bug, and amazing it hasn't been fixed.
Edit: Also happens in a play now game.

  • Just found this elsewhere:

On Pro, the highlighted defender will move without your input.
On All-Pro, the highlighted defender will not move without your input, but as you said you can hold L1 and the defender will perform his assignment.
On All-Madden, the highlighted defender will not move without your input even if you hold L1.

More EA garbage; take out options we like, force us to play the game their way.

What about on offense, I personally don't have any problems because I play as coach, and when I'm controlling defense I control the linemen first and switch to db when the ball's in the air. But my brother likes to play as hb and whenever a screen is called his guy will just stand there like an idiot and not run the route. Does he have to hold L1 then too?
