@EA_BlueberryI could see that working. I've just noticed that even if you play bump coverage and shade the DBs to the inside, they still have zero interest in actually coving the inside routes. That's in man coverage. I can understand slant routes not being covered so well, in some zone coverages, but most of the time, it just looks like the defenders are lost.
I actually got to the point of super-simming the defense, just because it's too broken to play.
But, in all, those are my biggest gripes in pass coverage.
1. Zone defenders not staying in the zone the plays says they are covering (ie. CBs not staying in the flat)
2. crossing routes, drag routes and slants being wide open, no matter what play call is used.
I can see what you are saying helping quite a bit. I'd also like to see some more realistic pass breakups. Let's say someone runs a slant. In this year's Madden, the defenders just come in and tackle the receiver and sometimes the receiver will drop it. But, I feel like, in real life, we see alot of DBs with that outside hand on the back and the inside hand batting the ball away. That's the kind of stuff that needs to be in this game. Otherwise the man coverage/zone coverage attributes are kinda moot. Sometimes I do see a DB try to dive in front and block a pass, but I just never see the proper technique being displayed. These are supposed to be pros, so I think they should use proper techniques.
I don't know the difficulties of getting that type of stuff into the game, but I just feel like it would help.
I would ask though, that perhaps they could increase the reaction time of the DBs if you guess right, while shading inside or outside. That would also help, as a "right now" fix. If someone runs a slant and I shaded my guys to expect the slant, they should have a jump on it. Or, maybe install a "guess route" feature. That could make for huge game-changing plays. Just a few ideas.
