Custom roster

I am trying to build a completely customized roster for a season in franchise mode (since single season no longer exists either). A large group of us did a complete NFL redraft on facebook and I was trying to set it up in madden to run it through a simulation. I am having issues of moving players freely from team to team to adjust for the new teams we have set. If players are drafted to a team and I try and set them in, even the salary cap hits me saying they can't be on that team because it would put them over the cap. I also can't remove players that are on "IR" from their teams. Is there anything I can do to get around these issues? I miss the years of having multiplayer offline franchises on a single console. If I could start a franchise with total control of every franchise it would be so much easier now, but they foolishly removed that many years ago...
