This was happening to me too then I figured it out. I found it happens when you use the d lineman and make a move. This is because I was accidentally clicking in the right stick while making the d line move. Clicking the right stick while on defense causes the defender in coverage closest to the qb to abandon coverage and blitz. So just be careful when making a move not to click the stick in.

@KingTBeck2 If that is the cause EA has to fix their controls then. If I'm playing as a Defensive Lineman, the way to get my moves off is to push the right stick.
I feel like it happens when the Computer is about to pass and the defender that moves is the place where the QB passes.

- 2 years ago@Alphaten You and KingTBeck2 are talking about 2 entirely separate bugs. Beck is talking about when the CPU QB snaps the ball, one or multiple CBs leave their assignments to blitz the QB, literally running in a straight line to him and leaving the receiver that they were supposed to be guarding absolutely wide open.
You on the other hand, you're talking about while in coverage, your defenders literally watch the ball coming in but they lurk themselves straight out of the path of the ball like they're trying to allow the completion. I play safety and I see these problems multiple times every single game, elite CBs and linebackers looking absolutely clueless and making decisions that my brain just can't comprehend. I've never seen such * AI in my entire life, these people at EA are absurdly pathetic, and they claim they work hard on this game but it's clear that they do as little work as possible and I can't wait until the day they finally lose the license, these losers will disappear practically overnight they're that bad
