Freeze at half time

3 games of H2H have froze at half time tonight, with neither player able to quit/timeout/concede.  Perhaps introduce a "draw" when the servers detect no inputs from either player after 5 minutes?

  • @DJ_Englishman can you remember what happened directly before the game froze? I recently read some reports that celebration animations (e.g. after a TD or First Down) caused a never ending and unskippable animation. my guess would be that some of the celebrations are buggy (e.g. as it is for Mike Evans' 'Signature' celebration, see here: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/Mike-Evans-Solo-Battles/m-p/9509924#M2787).

anyways, I'd fully support the option to get a draw (or something like that) if both players are not able to continue the game. in particular, since there are a lot of bugs in Madden 21, unfortunately ....

@Neo_Novalis Hi, on these occasions it was simply end of half clock expiry. Earlier in the season I often had the "punt freeze" as the ball just rolls along out of bounds, stops and then gets stared at endlessly - but that one disappeared wks ago. I have never noticed any celebration freezes that I can recall, let alone Mike Evans ones.

A no-input "draw" just makes sense for both parties EA??? Really frustrating when it's win or bust H2H... especially as on-side kicks and returns are already absent making PvP strategy annoying enough already!

@DJ_EnglishmanI like the idea of questioning the result of a disconnect. it is not only in H2H but also in Solo Battles where players potentially face a lot of frustration.

there are so many reasons why a disconnect or freeze can happen (disconnects even happen in 'official' tournaments like once recently in a tournament game in OT which was streamed on twitch!). in H2H it should at least be that players have the opportunity to resume the game within a certain time (1-2 minutes?) if you got disconnected through no fault of your own or if you have to quit due to a freeze. at least it shouldn't count as a defeat if you can't do anything against it (as described). the current solution that one or even both players get punished for a bug (if there is anybody to blame, than it is not the player!) or disconnect (well, so many reasons why this could happen...) is absolutely unfair to the players. a draw would at least reduce the consequences of the result (e.g. if a H2H MUT Season ends in the playoffs due to a disconnect resulting in a loss).

More solo woe.  End of 3rd Qtr crash after a pick 6 occurred.  Just two players in the middle of field having an endless scrap!  Not the usual end of half crash I suppose but frustrating nevertheless, especially as some players have achieved 18 solo wins this week 🤬
