how do i change defensive scheme

whenever i go to change my defensive scheme on connected franchise w/ giants i try to change to attacking 3-4 and it lets me change it but then when i play the game it stays with 4-3 defense. can anyone tell me how to do 3-4 defense with it starting as 4-3 defense
