I am curious as to how you think the developers can improve zone play however.
@KabmaSo what was your worst version? Mine was in the early 2000's when you could sub a kicker in and throw for five thousand yards. I still have the P.C. rom in the basement because it was such a trainwreck. Plus the FB didn't lead block for crap. Flash forward a decade plus and well the FB still doesn't lead block for crap.
I understand that programing a game like NBA 2K is different than Madden...more moving parts in football...11 on 11 is more difficult than 5 on 5....but that doesn't mean the level of depth of the only "simulation" football game allowed on the market needs to be sacrificed.
The Next Gen release of Madden was just spit shining a poop.

@rjwil73Honestly can’t say I had a worse version. I enjoyed the game when it came out on Sega Genesis in the late 80s before PlayStation. The men were stick figures and they felt like they were on skates, but it was fun.
It was not close to the real thing but I enjoyed it.
You mentioned full backs blocking...well let me tell you. I stopped playing every mode other than MUT. My reason is because I want to get players that’ll play the way their supposed to. So in Mut, if I have a full back that doesn’t block well, then I can easily find a full back that blocks much better.
I get that we want the game to be much better...but many of the complaints I hear from players are issues that are common in real football. For instance...it has always been a football tactic to stress zones...because only so much space can be guarded at once. Which leaves other space open.
I get the complaints...but at a certain point they can be a little unproductive- EA_Blueberry5 years ago

What did you like about NFL 2K5?
From the sound of it this year's release of Madden NFL 21 isn't meeting your standards and I can sense that from the frustration you're all conveying in here. Can you go into detail what the top things in this year's title are bugging you and top 10 features you want to see added in future titles? This year's game had 30% more players at launch than last year (Madden NFL 20 was the best selling Madden title of all time), so while the team is acknowledging there is a commitment to make Franchise mode better it also is great news to see more players logging into the game and also logging in more often throughout the entire year.- 5 years ago
Sorry for this lengthy post but i feel as though i should be thorough just in case by some miracle a decision maker from EA actually sees this.
1.Tackling Animations
While a lot of what made the 2K games so great were the smaller details, the actual gameplay itself is why so many fans go back to them. Tackling was certainly a standout on the defensive side of the ball. Tackling in this years game is horrendous, especially with glitchy animations like "air trucking" in the game. Also, almost every single tackle is the exact same animation, there is almost no variance. In madden it feels like players get stuck in these pre-determined animations so it makes it feel like players aren't even reacting to whats actually happening on the field. I cant tell you how many times I've called a blitz, and the opponent runs the ball and my AI defender does not even react to the running back because he's already deep enough to get stuck in the animation of "im going for the QB".
2.Catching AnimationsThough lacking the flare and flash that Modern madden has going for it, catching the ball in 2K5 was one of its best features.
Yes, you’d get the occasional brick-handed receiver or tight end dropping a catchable ball, but blame the low catching ratings for that.
The catching animations were much more aggressive, more physical. Like a lot of the game it just seemed fluid. In this years madden receivers are like paper and easily drop 3 to 4 totally catchable balls off the tiniest amount of contact. and i would understand that if it happened when a corner back is facing a less superior Wide receiver than him. but yesterday DK metcalf got completely locked down by a 72 overall corner back with less speed and strength by atleast 20 ovr points. again this goes back to the pre-determined animation problem the game has that barely every popped up in even madden 08 or 12 and especially in 2k.
3.Linebacker catching
im sorry, but no linebacker in the NFL can make some of the crazy plays i see in this years madden, it seems like Linebackers and all defenders have better catching skills than actual offensive players. while you constantly see receivers drop the ball from contact this almost NEVER happens to CB or LB's. no matter how much contact there is, they are going to catch it, because the animation is pre-determined. not reaction based. Linebackers consistently make 360 diving backwards catching interceptions and to be honest ive never seen a linebacker do this in my life.
4.Running The Ballrunning in this game feels like i barely have any control over my running backs change of direction, the whole thing feels "slippery" and kind of "stuck in the mud" I understand how to use the stick skills, but again players have found a way to exploit this weird new way of running in a way that is super unrealistic and never happens in actual football. like the stop and go (which i always use because its so effective in this game) you rarely see a player go from full sprint to complete full stop back to full sprint again in real life, unless they are tyreke hill and even he rarely does this. its a situational move in football and in madden its the only way to reliably run the ball without getting sucked into an tackle animation from a DE or LB thats already being blocked by an offensive lineman.
5.Presentation and overall attention to detail
This game gave you a halftime show, with chris berman reacting to actual highlights from other teams. the fans had personality, the sidelines reacted in various ways to things that happened on the field. if a touchdown happened, players would react a certain way, and then if another touchdown happened it would be slightly different. even the interactions of a player going out of bounds and into the sideline had various animations that really contributed to the overall REALISTIC feel of the game. I cant tell you how much this does for immersion which is ultimately what you want in a SIM GAME. I mean even the draft had an engaging sequence with Mel Kiper Jr. providing a recap. It felt like i was inside a living breathing world. information about not only the game at hand, but other games going on around the NFL is imperative in creating an authentic experience for players. 2K5 did that well. The game let players catch up on the games around the NFL while also keeping tabs on the various players within the game at hand. It was both useful and representative of actual NFL broadcasts.
6. Running Quarterbacks. It used to be in older versions of madden that if you didnt protect the ball when you got tackled then 80% of the time you would fumble. This helped to balance the game, you had to take calculated risks when running with a quarterback. This year, you could hit stick baker mayfield while he trying to juke you and he wont fumble the ball, it makes it so that running quarterbacks bassically have no incentive to pass because why? when i have to commit so much of my defense to defend it, it leaves so many things wide open on the field bassically giving you no reason to ever choose someone whos not lamar jackson or patrick mahomes. YOU HAVE TO play as a running QB if you playing decent competition. or else you are at a disadvantage.
7.Franchise mode
I mean, i think we all know franchise has not changed in years and the honestly this is such an obvious one that 2k5 blows madden out of the water with that i don't feel the need to explain this one.
8. Defenders and Zones
Very often defenders don't play their zones right because they are not REACTING to whats happening on the field, they are in an animation called "zone" animation and thats it, thats what they are doing, no matter what happens. which results in alot of cheesy mechanics on offense you can exploit easily. Theres bassically no reason to play zone in this game because man is SO EFFECTIVE since a 72 ovr CB can stick with Dk metcalf on a slant , why run zone? so bassically the game is purely man to man, you cant even play zone as a switch up because if you do, the offense will set a guy in motion and completely confuse the AI's zone coverage and boom, you got streaked down the seam for a touchdown.
Theres 8 on that list.I could go on but i think this post is long enough and covers most of the worst things about the game that 2k5 does better.
and PLEASE dont use the percentage of players playing the game as a barometer for success. This is simply because every year the NFL gets more popular and every year theres more kids becoming NFL fans wanting to play and NFL game and madden is the ONLY choice they have. Also gaming in general is alot more popular, ESPECIALLY during a pandemic. So yes, ALOT of people bought the game. But only because we have no other choice, not because the game is good.Theres a few Videos i can refer you to that explains alot of it in detail better than i can

thank you for reaching out and trying to solve my issues atleast, i appreciate you taking the time and i just want the game to be good again. thats the only reason im putting so much effort in getting heard by someone.
