illegal forward pass on defense

I was playing the Bo Jackson Ice Bowl Challenge when my defense made an interception.  On the issuing return, I accidentally hit the pitch button just before impact and a flag was thrown.  Announcer said "The ball is out" but the play was whistled dead and the flag was thrown.  The play was ruled an illegal forward pass on the offense.  After the CPU team accepted the panelty, I was now on offense and left with 3rd and -8.   The yellow first down marker was 8 yards behind the line of scrimmage and by behind, I mean behind my QB.  One rush from BO (because Bo knows glitches) and the play count went back to normal.  Only thing I have noticed since is that the interception was never recorded.  First play was a tackle, second play was the interception, the only play listed under the stats was the first tackle.
