While the following will not prevent this happening, it may be an effective workaround:

Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, the player he's supposed to be blocking isn't actually invisible. When watching the video I linked to, I can still count all 11 defensive players. The offensive lineman THINKS he's blocking someone, but he's bugged and is blocking no one. The player he's supposed to block takes a bee-line to the quarterback. So, there's a problem with the AI. I've only noticed it since the "blocking" update, but it's possible that's just coincidental and it's existed before.

I have the same issue. The game is almost unplayable because the glitch is so drastic. My left tackle is on pace for 22 sacks allowed. He really is making a profound effort against blocking the air, though.

Same thing here. Just got the game and I already had to stop playing because this bug happens to me several times a game. 😬
As noted above, this IS NOT an invisible player bug, all 11 defenders are there. This is a blocking bug.

This is absurd. I never had a problem with bugs until the latest patch. While I like that All-Madden difficulty is much more difficult, it's almost impossible to mount a comeback or run a hurry up offense with this bug. Couple that with the fact that player ratings for lineman (D and O) are meaningless and you have yourself some extremely unfavorable scenarios.
A mid-70 DE will murder an 85 guard; while my 90 RE gets manhandled by a low-70 lineman.

I'm with you...
My LT is rated 99 and will give up 4 sacks a game (two because of glitch, two because of nonsense). All four of my defensive lineman are 85+ in finesse moves but I will not register a sack in a game when the opposing QB throws the ball 30x.

My LT is...I want to say, 93 in MUT. Same issue. I'll see man coverage, hot route my receiver, and then NOPE, defensive end or linebacker to the face. If I'm lucky, I catch it in time and check down, but most of the time the defensive player is in the backfield too fast while my tackle is busy dancing the tango with himself five yards away. It was funny the first few times...
I like how offensive linemen will inexplicably decide to go for the legs of their assignment as soon as the ball is snapped, which always results in the defensive player hurdling over the now fetal positioned lineman and suplexing my quarterback into the dirt. Good times.

EA, your reply with a link that doesn't address the question is extremely disappointing. Clearly, the complaint is not that players are missing, but that the off player blocks a def player that doesn't exist, while the actual def player there, is ignored by the off player. This results in an immediate blow up of the off play. To think, and then suggest, that pausing the play, once the bug is detected, is even possible. Then to offer that the solution in the link could result in the off player blocking the def player. Then, now with the play paused, resume the play and it will be good, is just plain stupid. Offer a real answer or nothing at all.
This makes the game impossible to play.
The only thing that makes this kind of bug happen more than once, is because you can reset and replay the game. Also, it doesn't happen every time.
Otherwise, if something like this happens, you don't play the game ever again.
I, and many others, have many games that, for many different game-play problems, lead to never playing that game again.
Don't be that game.

I signed up specifically to comment in this thread. This bug has made this game unplayable. Thanks EA, you have ruined a game that I have spent hundreds of hours playing. It's pretty much now unplayable. This happens to me 2 or 3 times a game. My left tackle aggressively blocks the air next to him while the RE comes rushing in completely untouched for a sack. What the hell?
Who does your play-testing before you release your patches? Who does your QA after your engineers make changes? It's pretty much a catastrophic failure all the way down the chain of command. As a software engineer that works for a high-availability SaaS platform, I can tell you I've seen people fired for less.
What's even funnier, is the suggested answer that was posted has literally nothing to do with the actual problem. Did the support person who read this even take the time to understand what people were complaining about?Bang up job, all around EA. You guys really are full of fantastic people.
