I had this problem and now it's fixed. This is what happened and take it for what it's worth.
Problem
- Madden 15 on PS4
- Gameplay would freeze. Ambient audio (crowd noise, announcers) would continue, but player models would freeze in place. Strangely, the hair and towel physics would continue; they would continue to move a bit after the players froze.
- This happened consistently after 10-15 minutes of gameplay. It would basically freeze once per quarter.
- It only froze during the after-play scenes: when the players were celebrating, or getting up from the ground, that type of thing.
- It never froze while I had control of the game.
- It did this in my Connected Franchise games and exhibition games.
- It didn't freeze during Skills Training (there is no after-play animation or play calling in Skills Training, so I assume that's why)
Things I tried that didn't work
- I deleted the game data from my PS4 and reinstalled from my disc. I tried this with and without applying the update from EA.
- I played the game without a network connection to rule out any error coming from trying to contact EA servers.
- I started the PS4 in Safe Mode and "Rebuilt the Database". I did this with Madden 15 installed and after I deleted the game data.
- I played the game under a different PS4 profile.
What Worked
- I ended up "Initializing PS4" in Safe Mode (option 6), erasing all game data and user data from the PS4.
- I then slowly added back things and testing in the game.
- I installed Madden 15 without a network connection (no EA update) and it worked.
- I applied the update to Madden 15 and connected to the network and it worked.
- I copied my Connected Franchise save file from my PS-Plus online storage back to system storage and opened the save file in the game and it works.
- One thing that I didn't copy was my Profile data. So the game thinks that I'm a brand new user. But I could still load my Connected Franchise from it's own discrete save file.
After doing all of this, it appears to work. I have played several full length games without the game freezing.
Theory: Corrupted Profile
- My guess is that something within my Madden 15 Profile was corrupted.
- After deleting the game data and reinstalled from the disc, the game would still look for any profile saved on my system storage and bring in parts of it. It might still think that I'm a new user, but it must have still been pulling some data from those save files.
- My guess, since it froze so consistently after the play but before bringing up the play-calling interface is that the corrupted data had something to do with play-calling history.
Last Bit
This started happening to me after my power went out mid-game, which totally makes sense as to why a file would be corrupted. What's really weird is that so many people seem to be having the same problem. I assume not everyone's power is going out all of the time. Anyway, take this for what it's worth. If it worked for me, it might work for you.
TL;DR: Try deleting all of your Madden 15 saved game data (profile files, play history files, everything except for the Connected Franchise save file in my case at least). I know it's the nuclear option, but at least I now have a game that works.
