Madden 16 Deluxe Edition codes

I like many others received the PS3 Madden 2016 Deluxe Edition of the game for Christmas. The person that got it for me paid the retail price of $69.99 for said deluxe edition. Upon entering the code (which PSN accepted) I did not receive the deluxe content. Upon further review I noticed that the code has expired one month prior. Deluxe edition content which was paid for has an expiration date. While speaking with an EA representative yesterday I was told that it was the retailers fault, that they were to stop selling the Deluxe edition once the content expired. No where I have I seen any type of recall for the game issued by EA. A retailer will not stop selling product they paid for because of something they have no knowledge of. All I (like many others) want is the content I was to receive or content of equal value. Returning the game to the retailer is not an option as they game is opened and it would be an exchange for the same exact title, placing me in the predicament I am currently in.
