John Ross of the Bengals ran a 4.22 at last year’s combine. But his speed was rated 98 and his acceleration was a 96, which is outrageous! The outrageousness was taken even a step further this year by downgrading his speed even further to a 97. His speed and acceleration should both be a 99. Regardless how you feel about him as a football player speed is speed. Regardless if he can run routes or catch the ball or get separation from the defensive backs, speed is speed. Regardless of his awareness or elusiveness, speed is speed, it has nothing to do with his quickness or agility. We’re just talking about one thing, speed. Initially he should have had a 99 for speed and acceleration and if he proves that he doesn’t deserve it then lower it.
