That doesn't sound like fun at all to me, let's gets this fixed.
First, do you have Quick Presentation set as your presentation settings? We've detected an issue causing head to head matches to fail when players have changed their presentation settings to Quick Presentation. We're actively working on resolving this issue. At this time, we recommend players do not change their presentation settings.
Second, have you tried these connectivity steps below aside from the router adjustments from your end?

Thanks for the generic and scripted reply. Yes I've tried all of these basic troubleshooting steps that I found when I searched for a solution on Google 7 days ago.
I didn't figure you guys would have a solution.
To those doing Google searches in the future for a resolution, it seems like this is a result of playing on WiFi, which through my research has been an ongoing issue for the Madden franchise for multiple years.
Maybe the Development team will get this figured out with future adaptations of the franchise Their still in their infancy with only 30+ years of experience. /s

A wired connection is always advised for games over a WiFi connection for a more consistent connection. I know it's not always possible for everyone depending on how setups are in their households though. With millions of other players on different router setups, ISPs, bandwidth speeds, weather, and outside factors there will be reports of disconnections. It's not always the servers and can be addressed through network troubleshooting.
Depending on where the router is in the house and the console, if the signal has to travel through multiple walls or people walk in front of the signal path that can potentially cause disruption. Do you have your WiFi on the console set for your 2.4Ghz or 5GHz frequency? Here's a quick rundown on their difference, if you haven't switched yet try that:"The primary differences between the 2.4 GHz and 5GHz wireless frequencies are range and bandwidth. 5GHz provides faster data rates at a shorter distance. 2.4GHz offers coverage for farther distances, but may perform at slower speeds. Range : how far your data can travel."
Are there other devices in the house streaming or downloading at the same time? That can up bandwidth that's being shared. If that's the case, the connection can slow down and more susceptible to disconnections.
Let us know if you're interested in troubleshooting this. I've been disconnected before in some close matchups and where I was winning in the 4th quarter in past Madden titles. Luckily, rebooting the network fixes it but I can't imagine frustration where it happens over and over again. We're here to help if you need it.

I’ve had this same problem too. Except it always happens when I’m winning. Then suddenly it says my connection to peer has been lost and I end up taking the L. This has happened to me more than once. It’s frustrating for me because I put all this work in to defeat my opponent then it just cuts off and I get a loss on my record. This is not fair!

I'm hard wired and when I have a lead in the 4th quarter and my opponent quits I get a loss and nothing affects him. It only says "Your opponent is having trouble connecting to the network". Been dealing with this garbage for years now. EA sports is the absolute worst.

Would anyone like to explain why I am up 30 points 3 games in a row.. Make all three players quit and I still get the loss in squads? Took me out of the playoff spot. One ws in the divisional game. Not going to play this * anymore until you fix this. I've played madden since 1998.. This is unacceptable.

I am experiencing all of the same things along with everyone I know who plays this game. Me + 6 others experience “connection to peer has been lost” or “lost connection to EA madden servers, this game will not record as a lost” HOWEVER, it records it as a loss. I do not want to even play this game anymore, neither do any of my friends just knowing that we are going to work up a 6 - win, just to lose. This needs to be fixed, this has not happened to me this much in any other madden game ever. Disappointed.

I have been playing Madden for 15yrs and this newest game is terrible and sad. I get kicked out of games right around halftime and can be up 28 to 0 and still get a loss. It really makes me not want to even waste my time and money anymore because the record isn't honest to the skill of the player. It's all up to the madden people and their servers and any other scandals behind the certain or in the closet but they do. I think Madden is corrupt for these reasons

I am beyond agravated. I have over 22 wins and 33 losses, of those 33 losses 20 are from being disconnected. I switched to a wired connection and that allowed me to get my 22 W's... and today i have loss 3 in a row due to being disconnected. I am unranked. I played over 900 games last year and was ranked in the 1900 range. I cannot damage my record anymore. I need a resolution. I have high speed fiber internet just to ensure i have a strong connection for gaming.
What can i do to remove these illegitimate losses or even completely reset back to 0.

I have been having the same problem since I downloaded Madden 20 last week. I have contacted EA on four separate occasions and tried four different "solutions". Several of these "solutions" blamed the problem on my hardware. I went through all of the suggested steps anyway. Nothing has fixed the problem, not even the update. Add me to the list of frustrated buyers.

I see that you've been through some console troubleshooting. Have you tried rebooting the network by unplugging the modem/router for about 5 minutes? This way a fresh connection to the EA servers is establish which can correct any lingering hiccups in the previous link? We have some great steps below that are super easy to go through in about 10 minutes of time that fix lag and disconnections for most of our players. Please let us know what happens, sorry to hear about all the trouble you've been going through.

Bruuuhhhh, it’s folks on the game that’s undoing their connection or something, it happens pretty much every time I get a lead on someone it’ll start lagging until I get put out, then it gives me a loss!!!! UNACCEPTABLE MADDEN!! U need to fix it happens too frequently at the worst possible time EVERY TIME!!! I don’t want to keep playing with this issue. FIX IT!!!

Exactly im havingbthe same problem i feel cheated thatbwe baught a defective product and get nothing in return .they told me 2 ports were closed and askbcomcast to open them ....still same crap
