For anyone else that runs into this, we got around it by trading with the team directly after my team. Just did a swap of the two picks and then I was able to draft normal from there on out.
I am actually having a similar issue in my online league. I traded up for the first pick to try and draft a QB for my team. I traded during free agency before the draft, now whenever I hit “Make your selection” my game crashes and freezes. It made our league unplayable
I've seen quite a few people saying they have had this issue since the last update. You can do the solution I mentioned above and hope the computer doesn't draft your guy.
For ours, if they did, I had agreed with other league members that I'd pick that teams top need and then we would force a one for one trade by making the player I wanted really bad, completing the trade, and then putting his ratings back to what they were supposed to be. Luckily it didn't come to that.
