I am also having this issue. My wife can see me on her friends list along with my clan mates, but my friends list stays empty.
I'm on PC and have tried both EA Desktop and Origin.
Did you guys ever find a resolution?
Any updates on this? I have forwarded ports, and also reset router. Uninstalled from Origin, and Reinstalled via EA Desktop with same issue.

The Origin team has seen some reports of this and are looking into it. Are you able to see your friend if you both delete each other and re-add each other?I'm om xbox and yes I have tried deleting and re-adding. I am on xbox series s and my friend is on xbox one x. All I see on my friendslist is 1 person. I do not know how many of my friends have the game other then the one on the one x.

Do you know if you and your friend are playing on the same version of the game? You have to both be on the Gen 5 or Gen 4 version together.
The Series X and S allows you to download two different versions of the game with Dual Entitlement.
