Madden asks me to sign in. Inactive email address so I'm unable to pay the game
I bought Madden 2017 last week and started playing it on my xbox. The xbox broke so I bought a new one yesterday. I signed into my xbox live account and then went to play Madden and the game is trying to get me to sign into an EA account with an email address that has long been deactivated. I don't remember the last time I singed into this account, I definitely didn't do it when I started playing the new Madden last week.
I really just want to play the game but it's asking me to sign in and won’t even let me play the game. I did a live chat with one advisor for over 30 minutes he said for me to call back. By this time, it was late so I went to call back this morning and the phone lines were closed.
I did another live chat and was instructed to install Madden 16. This took a while so I then was on to the 3rd adviser. Installing Madden 16 did nothing but waste time so they had me print out the invoice for the game and sign it. I was instructed to take a picture of that as well as a copy of the game. The only way they will accept the picture is to upload it to the My Cases. For some reason it was taking a very long time to up load and EA is unable to accept it in an email format. A pdf would upload fine because it was less than 1MB but the picture was around 3.5MB and it wouldn’t upload in a timely fashion. I was trying to ask a question and the 3rd advisor left the chat abruptly.
I left the upload going anyway and went on to something else. When I got back to the computer a few hours later, the case was deleted and the upload never finished. This is over 4 hours working with EA and no results yet.
I tried contacting them to see if they can help me create a new case and they are apparently closed now.
Does anyone know of a way I can unlink an EA account from my xbox live account?
I really just want to play the game at this point and I feel like that may never happen after what I’ve gone through.
Hi there! It sounds like you don't really need to do what's called an Account Merger or a Persona Transfer, but only update the e-mail address that's presently on your EA Account. What's happening is called Account Ownership Verification, and generally the two easiest ways to verify ownership of an account for security purposes is to answer a security question that you've created on the account, or to receive a verification e-mail with a 6 digit code inside that you would read back to an advisor. If there is no security question present, and you can't access the e-mail address on file, we move on to other steps. If you were asked to download one of the sports title demos, you need to connect to the Ultimate Team game mode for EA servers to grant online access entitlements to the back end of your EA Account. This will allow advisors to see that you have control of the Gamertag that is linked to your EA Account. Once this is done, you only need to update the e-mail address on the EA Account in question, have an advisor send you a password reset link, and use your new credentials to log in. This should resolve your issue! Let me know if you have any other questions, and I will be happy to guide you.
