madden nfl 15 on xbox 360

I bought  madden nfl 15 for xbox  360 for my son. we want to play a season foot ball game mode  where you play different teams keeping track of you win/looses   trying  to reach the superbowl for the best record in the league . When i start the game what do we hit or mode selection  do we select to play this. I  was inormed that you can play the game this way and do not need xbox live to do so  .
