Madden ultimate team solo competitions requires xbox live gold?

I just want to play solo competitions against the computer with my Madden ultimate team,  but the game takes me to a screen saying that xbox live gold is required?  I can understand it for multiplaye...

    Although Solo Battles is considered an AI mode, it is on the Ultimate Team servers which requires Xbox Live Gold.

Honestly that’s kinda of stupid because I paid 70 bucks for the game and i can’t even play Practice without Gamepass i can’t even Do anything.. I completely understand Why it should cost Money for Online game modes but I should be able to play with the AI since i payed full price for a Copy and paste game with some added features..
