Moving Players Pre-Snap

I notice when playing, if I want to move a safety or linebacker closer to the line of scrimmage they seem to move their feet but be stuck in the same place. It’s like a magnetic force field stopping them from moving even though you are manually trying to place them in a different spot on the field. In addition to this, in the case you do get to move the player manually sometimes when you move them and click off to a different player they go right back to where they were before you moved them.

What you are describing actually sounds intended to help prevent them from going off-sides and shift them into a position so they properly perform their coverage. This helps prevent exploits too where players used to position certain defensive players on the field to confuse the AI, leading to instant sacks.

Is there any way you can get a recorded clip of this and post it here? Also, let us know if you're on XB1, PS4, or PC. 👍

Would I be able to do this in online gameplay? We don’t have access to replays after the play. Also it’s PS4

I appreciate your response. I was looking for gameplay to try to be able to film but I can’t go back far enough in the pre snap to get a replay of what I’m describing. When I click on to a safety to try to bring them in run support for example, sometimes it won’t let me move closer to the line of scrimmage at all. So if I’m trying to move to linebacker depth I’d be stuck deep even if I know a run is coming. In addition to this, I was able to get some game play of a ruling that cost me a game. This catch was ruled incomplete with 8 seconds left and I would’ve been in field goal range had it counted. It would be cool if we could be able to challenge plays again or they actually review. Losing on these kinds of plays sucks especially when there’s nothing you can do about it at the time. Edit: I posted this from my phone, is the video clip I attached visible?

  • I have a .mov from my iPhone that won’t post I guess. I don’t know how to convert it to a file that’s supported.

You can always upload it to YouTube and then post the link here if that works.

The community has been bringing up the ability to challenge plays and have that area of the game improved as of lately. We've been making sure those voices have been getting into the team's ears, but as far as I'm aware the rulings are actually correct and it's a "cinematic" type of sequence for more immersion. The animation of the player's positioning is where it's thrown off but on the back-end the ruling was correct, if that makes sense.

What you're describing with the player's inability to get closer to the line of scrimmage is working as intended. It will force them back a little bit so they're in their correct zone. This is for gameplay purposes and to help avoid exploits.
