My Xbox One gives (0x80820002) error message for only specifically Madden discs
Decmeber 2015 i picked up Madden 16 for the xbox one. The game worked fine for 3 months or so but then randomly the console would have trouble reading the disc, trying to spin the disc two to three times then coming up with a message "Eject the disc, then try again - Make sure you're using an Xbox One game, a music CD, or a movie on Blu-ray or DVD. (0x80820002)"
After a few ejects it would finally read the disc and play with no crashes or glitches while the game was running. But by April the error message would happen more and more often untill the game simply refused to play at all.
An odd thing about the issue is it only happens with my Madden discs (Madden 16 and 15). Fallout 4 works fine, MGS5 works fine, Halo master cheif collection starts up on the first insert. All my other games play without issue except once or twice with the Devision disc but it wasnt an issue more than twice and its a game i rarely played compared to Madden.
I tried the obvious solution of carefully cleaning the disc and using a blu-ray drive cleaning system for the console. And still every other game works while Madden 16 (and 15) keeps getting an 0x80820002 message. It got to the point of when i tried to clean my disc yet again i believe i did do damage to the top side (picture side) where a small pixel sized dot is now poked through the picture rendering the game useless.
So i then decided to sink more money into another copy of the game. A brand new copy of Madden 16 came in the mail, on 4/21/2016, i unwrapped and delicately put it into the disc slot of my Xbox one - and i get the same disc spinning attempt with the same error message "Eject the disc, then try again - Make sure you're using an Xbox One game, a music CD, or a movie on Blu-ray or DVD. (0x80820002)" with the brand new disc.
Ive tried suggested tips from online - Hard shut off of the console, unplugging then restarting. - Uninstall blu ray app then redownloading. - Even simply holding the disc in the drive for a second till it gets pulled in. None of these worked.
I dont want to spend the money to replace the console or deal with the hassle of mailing my Xbox One to be fixed for over two weeks when all my other games work except for the one id play pretty much every day Madden 16.
Now two seperate discs of Madden 16 and also the previous title Madden 15 get an error message because my Xbox doesnt recognize them as Xbox games. This is my go to game to pass an hour or so with a quick game of football. The fact the it doesnt work for some unseen reason is very upsetting. Though i cannot bring myself to pay full price ($59.99) for the digital download copy because i have already paid more than that with two seperate purchases of the same game.
Why cant this one specific game, on two different undamaged discs, with a clean blu ray reader be played while all my other games work immediately? My xbox officially does not want me to play Madden. I will hesitate to purchase any other future releases of this title because of this odd phenomenon.
