Online head to head between Xbox X and Xbox one

We recently purchased an Xbox X and Madden 21 but cannot figure out how to play a head to head matchup against a friend playing on an Xbox One.  We are friends on the Xbox Home Screen but not in Madd...

    Hey there @Pullisc5 Cross-play is currently not supported in between the Xbox Series X and Xbox One, which is why you are not able to a head to head against your friend.

@Neo_Novalis That information is correct. You can play with your friends if you launch the Gen 4 version of the game on Gen 5 but you can't play with your friends with the Gen 5 version is they are on Gen 4.

@Pullisc5 Just like I mentioned above, you are still able to play with your friends on Gen 4, you just have to launch the Gen 4 version which is available to you on Gen 5.

Ok thanks.  Now I need to learn how to launch the Gen4 version.  I will see what I can find online but if you could offer any help, I’d appreciate it.  Thanks!
