Power up pass doesn’t work

I see people on YouTube using power up passes to upgrade power up players. I have a 86 power up Patrick Mahomes but I can’t upgrade him from 86-89 with an 85-86 power up pass... why? When it comes to the “item” upgrade on the last slot it’s supposed to give me the “select from auctions” and the “select from binder” options.. mine only give me the “select from auctions” option. I don’t want to spend 150,000 on the base elite when I’ve already spent roughly 1,000 training boosting him up to and 86.... help please!
