Having them set properly can make the difference between winning and losing in tight games. Can't afford a fumble in a critical situation? Turn ball carrier protection to conservative to better avoid a fumble. Need a big play on defense? Turn your pass rush and tackling to aggressive settings to try to force a sack or a fumble.

As far as making coins goes the best thing you can do is buy low and sell high. Buy during promo packs and sell when the promo packs end. Even if you just make small (1k-2k) profit selling gold cards eventually it adds up. NEVER DISCARD ANYTHING. You never know when something will be required for a set.
