Re: EA servers are not available
Over the last week I've been unable to connect to the EA Servers in Madden 15 from my Xbox One as I was getting the error, "EA Servers are unavailable at this time. Please try again later." I FINALLY was able to fix this last night, I tried the all of the following steps however I am unsure which step actually fixed this issue but here are some suggestions for other users to try if you run into this:
- Forward ports on your router to get a NAT type of "Open". I found http://portforward.com/ was an excellent resource to help do this. Be careful if you change your IP to static that you update this in the table that you update your ports, I had mismatching IP's listed and that threw me off for a while.
- Go into your Settings and go into Power & Start up and change your setting to "Energy Saving". This can cause your NAT to be Strict.
- Power cycling your router and Xbox. I've included the steps that EA sent me below with some additions. NOTE: I tried this with the Madden 15 disk in my console and it did not work, however after removing the disk it did work, it could have been a coincidence but it's worth a try.
1) While the console is on press and hold the console’s Xbox button for 10 seconds to perform a hard reset, the system will power down.
2) Unplug all the power cords, from the outlet to the power brick and the power brick to the console.
4) Wait at least 5 minutes, when this worked for me I waiting a half hour. Please take the opportunity now while the console is disconnected, to power cycle (unplug) your router and modem for 30 seconds, I did this again for 30 minutes. When you plug it back in, just wait a minute for the network to restart.
5) Plug the power cords back in and wait for the power bricks light to go from White to Orange.
6) Once the power brick has the Orange light please start the console.
7) Next please go to Setting - Network - and then Test Internet Connection. This will make sure the power cycle has gone well and you can connect to XBL. Make note of the NAT Type when the test has completed. If your NAT Type reads "STRICT" you should contact your Internet provider to address the settings in the router as this will effect matchmaking and general connectivity.
- Changing to an alternate MAC Address. NOTE: do not put the Madden disk back in console until the following steps are complete.
1)Select the option: Settings -> Network Settings.
2) Now select the option: Advanced Settings.
3) Select the option: Alternative Mac Address.
4) Select the option: Clear and press A
- Clearing the Persistent Storage
1) Select the option: Settings ->Select Disc & Blu-Ray
2) Select the option: Persistent Storage
3) Now select the option: Clear Persistent Storage and press A. You should now be ready to play unhindered.
When I completed ALL of these steps I was able to connect to the EA Servers through Madden 15, during this process I also confirmed that other games were not affected, prior to solving this issue I was able to connect to the EA Severs through NBA Live 15. Try other games and make sure you can connect, it is possible that connecting through NBA Live helped as well though I'm not sure.
