I was able to get past this screen. Here's how. [PS4]
Leaving the game open, press PS button.
Go to settings, and select "Network "
Turn off internet connection.
Turn internet connection back on.
Open madden, and it will give you an error notification.
Press X and it should load you to the main screen.
Press R2 to sign in to EA.

I have been having the same issue on PS5.
With yesterday’s update I now can’t play at all because it just gets stuck on the create avatar step.
@DylanFriedland88 What did you do to fix it?
9/9/2021 Update: Today's server maintenance has fixed this issue. If you are still experiencing this problem, please let us know in this thread and also report this to help.ea.com so you can receive a case number while our teams further investigate your issue.

Some players have reported that after yesterday's Title Update, when they log in they are stuck in a Physique Selection Screen. Our team is aware and working to address this issue.

@Neo_Novalis that works but I am still not able to access every part of the game. And I have to do it EVERY time I want to play.
I figured that out yesterday you could do that but once you hit the PS button to edit your avatar it just does the please wait loading thingy.
Turning the internet off works to get you to the main screen but as soon as you try to do anything with internet back on with your avatar or anything online it just does the loading icon.
Madden attempted to fix the glitch where players could not access the Yard but just created a new issue. Every time I boot up madden I get forced to make a yard player that isn't there (image attached). I can't press any buttons to get around it. EA help keeps telling me to clear my cache and that they're "working on it" with absolutely no ETA. Anyone have a fix for this? I'm on Xbox Series X.

@Neo_Novalis this solution may work for some but since I purchased on Stadia, it is impossible for me to disconnect my cloud gaming platform from the internet.
was really hoping for an update yesterday as I figured the team probably took the long weekend off, but come on. The "workaround" that someone else marked as a solution is not a workaround and not a solution to this issue. Yes it will let you get by the initial screen but then locks up immediately again when you try to do anything online/profile related. 95% of the game is completely unplayable at the moment and for some that require internet access to even play the game (stadia customers) it's 100% unplayable.
Please throw us a bone and give us some type of update. Do the devs need more information to recreate this or to come up with a fix? I volunteer to provide whatever additional info they need to get this fixed. Have they looked at the possible link we've discussed about this being related to issues linking the Madden Mobile and EA accounts together?
