@EA_Blueberry Nothing? I should just forget about online play, when it is the biggest draw of Madden, because the EA provided roster download process is broken? Wow.

Hey, @Houtbob1
I missed your last response there. Do you have an external hard drive linked to your console? If it's failing that is generally related to not enough space, the files located on a different drive which can cause issues, or connectivity. If you were to visit Manage Files within Madden under Settings, deleting the profile and rosters shown there and restarting the game has helped players get across roster download errors in the past. Let me know if that helps. Hey, @EA_Blueberry
I do not have an external hard drive. I do have plenty of room on the main drive, so it's not a space issue.
I did delete the profile and rosters (though, there were no rosters to delete), restarted the game, and although it took a bit longer to start up (which seemed hopeful) it ultimately failed to download the rosters....again.
Prior to January (or so) we was able to get online with no issue. Something changed and maybe I'm the only one, but being unable to move past such a basic requirement is frustrating. In the interim I have been playing my 16 year old (thanks, Pandemic!) so we are enjoying the game. I'd just like to see someone else get whipped by a 16 year old for change.
Is there an escalation path? I appreciate all the help you've given. Just nothing seems to improve my position.

Are you getting the error message when you load up the game or when you go to play online H2H when it prompts you to download it? I've seen players get around this before by selecting No on the prompt but then tried clicking on online vs. to trigger the download again.
Are you able to download the roster from a different Gamertag so we can isolate it as an account based issue?
