I see lineman keeping up with my 93 speed Mike Vick step-for-step, and when I go to check the lineman's speed, it's 15-20 points lower.
I had 84 ovr Bernard Pollard as my SS on Ultimate Team. I remember one play where he seemingly ran at light speed to tackle someone in the backfield. I thought to myself "wow this guy has to be the fastest safety in the game." I checked his rating, and he only had 83 speed.
Basically, I already know the answer to my question. But I would really appreciate a response to share with people who I'm trying to enlighten on this topic.
So in short, my questions are:
Why does a given player run at different speeds throughout the course of the game? Why is his "top speed" different in certain situations?
Why do my defenders suddenly freeze when I'm trying to cover a receiver?
Why does my defense's zone coverage get so bad at times, even though they are very good zone defenders?
And finally, is there a handicap system in the gameplay code?
