John Ross lit it up the 1st 2 games of the season before suffering an early injury. He came out of the 2017 draft as the 9th overall and one of the fastest players in the league. Although he didn't have a remarkable season this year on paper, keep in mind that the Bengals offense had it's struggles throughout the year including the absence of A.J. Green. 

Ultimate Team does not always reflect real world simulation so you might see some higher or lower ratings in that mode to mix things up. Talent wise though, he still has a ton of potential to prove his draft status and has steadily improved in the 3 years in the league (statistically). At 24 years old, he still has a very bright future to justify the 97 rating.
