Here is an update from my end from my most recent Offline Franchise for the PS4 Pro system.
I started another new franchise. I'm currently on year 2030 - pre-season.
Here is how I played:
- I made back-up saves and auto-saves on individually named files for every season' start, mid season, and ending just in case I experienced the crash again. Example of file names (Season 1 Start, Season 1 Mid, Season 2 Start, Season 2 mid, ect...)
- I simulated and played some seasons.
- I have played multiple roles.
- Lions Create-a-player Improvisor QB. I played as this role the whole franchise.
- Owner of the Broncos up until 2028. Retired the Broncos owner in 2028. Changed to owner of Cardinals in 2028. Retired the Cardinals owner in 2029, Changed to the owner of the Rams. Still playing as the Rams in 2030.
- Coach of Colts and Packers from about 2025 onward. Still playing as both.
Here is what I experienced so far:
- 7 crashes that have ruined individual autosave and save files during this franchise run.
- When I say the file is ruined, I mean that after I’ve crashed and restarted the game, the save and auto-save file of that specific franchise that crashed attempts to load but sends me back to the file selection screen. Summed up… The file still exists but it won’t load after a crash.
- I created multiple saves under multiple names to work around this crash. (Made an individual save for the beginning of each start, mid, and end of a season).
- These crashes mostly occurred after I play a game (I play all offense only) and am at the final score/ stats screen at the end of the game. The game does not crash until I select “finish game”. Then it proceeds to crash in the loading screen after the game. I get a blue screen that kicks me back to my PlayStation homepage.
- Error code - CE -34878-0 was displayed on all, but one of these crashes.
- Crashes occurred around 2023, 2025, 2027, 2028, 2030 Almost all crashes occurred at mid-season or in the playoffs. I had two crashes in 2030.
- Usually, the crash only ruins my most recent save (or all saves under the same name) and auto save. However, I have experienced two crashes during 2030 and one of them did ruin four of the most recent save files and they were not of the same name, but they were all save files that were within the same 2030 season.
- My most recent file where I made it to the end of the season crashed. Then I could not reload the save. I attempted to simulate a separately named 2030 file and then decided to just exit for the night. When I test loaded it… it would not load. This is the only time I have experienced this load issue without the game crashing at the end of a game though.
- Odd issues I noticed along the way that may be noteworthy:
- Around 2027 or 2028 I noticed that I ran out of head coaches that I could hire while playing as an owner. I could, however, continue playing without a head coach. I do not know if this has any connection, but it may be a bug worth noting as I explore the mid-game. It does appear that other franchises are hiring coaches at least. I just don’t have access to that pool of coaches.
- QB Jersey numbers got strange around 2027. Some with #30+
- A visual glitch from the pre-game show claimed I was playing the Bills when I was playing a different team. This only happened once.
- I have noticed that someone else had the same issue and they played as the Lions just like I do. I don’t know if this is an important detail or not.
- What I am doing next:
- I plan to simulate a few years and continuing playing/ simulate all 30 years provided I don’t lose my progress all together. I will make note of any bugs and crashes worth mentioning.
- I will select a new team to own and see if I can hire any new head coaches. If the issue persists on a new team, I will let you know.
- I plan to transfer or retire my QB from the lions. If I retire him, I’ll replace him with a created coach pretend version of himself. I’d love it if I could simply retire or use my franchise player as a coach like FIFA does though. That’d be a solid addition to the game. (Summed up – retire a player, make that player a coach).
- If I stop crashing after retiring or leaving the Lions, I will let you know.
I will keep you posted on how the 2030’s goes when I get time later next week. I hope all of this information helps you guys find the root of the problem soon. You guys hold the keys to turn Madden around and create a football game everyone talks about years down the road. Much like NCAA 14. Get management and the shareholders heads out of their butts and take some risks to create a game that leaves a legacy instead of another capitalistic cash cow. It may work for now, but fans are getting tired of this on all fronts and more money will be lost in the long run if the product remains poor. I really hope EA can set the bar to be the best instead of continuing to just milk fans dry each year. You guys can do it. I just wish you guys would do it. Anyway, I hope all of this is useful.
