I was winning an only head to head game in regular seasons 16-9 and the opponent had no timeouts. I kneeled twice then with 55 seconds left he paused and the game never unpaused. I went to EA help to figure out how to fix the bug and the helper told me to restart my xbox. I did this and I went back into madden and got the 340 coins for losing a match and lost the game 16-9 ( remember I had 16 he had 9 and I lost).
This is an old glitch players used to do on older maddens. I've found a counter for it is to call a timeout when the other player is in the forever pause. Upon you calling timeout I believe it resets the other players pause time.
If this ever happens again try this out and hope it helps!

@AsianGod777 This is an old thread but, essentially on the madden games you could call a team timeout in game at any point whether it is paused or not so long as there is not a play in action and the ball is live on field. The timeout buttons should be the TouchPad on Playstation or the windows button on Xbox. By tapping the timeout button during the game, in or out of pause it will opt for a team timeout. You would be allowed to call timeout by input of this button in the even that your opponent paused and abused this old glitch. As mentioned it's been noted to see an opponent timeout before doing this glitch because if they called the timeout within the same series of a in game Play then you can not call one untill the next down of play in game.
