Re: QB tuck and run

why did they even remove it also i really need it back because without i have no way of getting around an rusher in 20 i would just usually spin and it would give me more time to scramble or make a pass but now if u see a rusher i have no choice but to throw it away or try to out run an 70 speed DT that’s faster than my 93 speed lamar in mut than if i do out run him i’m still stuck with an QB spy that i would usually in madden 20 spin around but in madden 21 i cannot do anything but run into him or try to get an angle which is dang near impossible basically what i’m saying add run mode back in the game no QB in the nfl like lamar or watson is just gonna sit back in the pocket and look for a pass when they are getting rushed or at-least make it an ability in mut 21 or something to tuck the ball behind the line of scrimmage please

Please EA it is next gen already. We should be able to turn this on/off if we feel it is an unfair advantage. Please bring back the tuck and run option (ball carrier moves behind the line of scrimmage) on a pass play! Your game would be bearable.

@MrHiLiTE This feature is not available in this year's Madden but we'll let the team know you would like to have it back. I've seen others bring it up on these forums throughout launch.

Why do you let the cpu do it and the user controlled players can’t do it

@taity96 Are you sure those aren't designed runs like RPOs or QB run plays?

I have to confirm for you, but I remember seeing a dev mention on Twitter a while back it's because too many players were using QBs to run with when in reality QBs didn't do it that much outside of specific running QBs like Lamar, so reducing this option helps encourage players to pass more often as what the position truly mirrors in the NFL.

How many QBs do you see successfully perform spin moves and jukes behind the line of scrimmage? You've seen it done by QBs like Lamar, Watson, and Allen...but I'm not talking about scrambling where they evade, but a successful spin move? It's extremely rare.

I’m sure cause the QB sits in the pocket waiting for people to get open and no one does so he tucks and runs.

So with that reason it will never come back even though it’s a video game and don’t have to be fully realistic with QB doing that behind line of scrimmage. I use to do it to just run from pressure then become a passer again when I had room

@taity96 I watch a lot of Ravens games and Lamar tends to do that. If nobody is open after 3 seconds he commits to a run. They've been working on him staying in the pocket longer this year so I'll be interesting to see if that continues next season. I don't anticipate any changes happening in Madden NFL 21 this year and we've seen players request this feature to return (I remember having incredible highlight reels in Madden NFL 25 with my Walter Payton OOP QB item), so we'll let the team know there's interest.

Make sure you post your feedback on Madden Voice when it opens up.

It's not that we want that feature, not having it literally breaks the game.  On a goal to go play basically inside the 5 you can not scramble and dive for the endzone with the qb. Every single time you attempt to the QB will throw the ball regardless if he is beyond the line of scrimmage.

@coryemm64 I feel like the team will need to improve the AI for the linebackers to recognize when a QB is going to commit to a run, otherwise that could be abused as an easy TD every time you use it. I know what you mean though, I've thrown the ball right when I thought I cross the line of scrimmage before, causing an interception. If the ball is spotted at the 1 or two yard line it's pretty much impossible to dive unless you select QB run as the designated play before the snap.
  • I would like to see the run commit be hind LOS feature back in madden 21. It doesnt make any sense that my 96 speed mike vick gets caught by vita vea behind LOS while im scrambling to the outside to take off. As long as the linebackers respond to the run commit at the same time the QB crosses the LOS i dont think we should have a problem. Can't have the LBs commit too early or they will leave their coverage and you could still throw the ball. I know if this was added back to the game then escape artist would be kinda obsolete. Maybe escape artist could be changed to have higher fakeout rates for the D linemen and Lbs rushing the QB behind LOS. Without the ability to run commit, it makes the game seem more unrealistic. I think escape artist would play better since then the QB could juke and spin behind the LOS, buying him more time to get space and throw the ball. Kinda like an Aaron Rogers or Pat Mahomes, or even Allene type thing. One thing is for sure, the QBs that are scramblers like Vick and Lamar, should not be getting caught by D linemen unless you run into them. Also, I have seen many times the CPU can run commit behind LOS with QB and burn all of my D lineman and blitzing linebackers, so.. the mechanic is still in the game.

@EA_Blueberry Thanks for letting devs know. Ima huge Lamar fan so of course I was upset. But ur right not too many qbs do this irl. But that’s what makes Lamar special. Also guys like kyler Murray , Wilson ,josh Allen , Watson and even Mahomes to a degree evade well in the pocket. Would love to see a feature to counter the pass rush.
  • EDITED: 2/11

after playing for much longer then a few hours i can see the amount of time the devs put in to balance this game as well as it is and still make it a ton of fun. i basically retract my previous comments and really enjoy the flow and options of this current version of madden. its honestly a great game and is possiably the best. thx keep up the good work. i would like a dedicated button to tuck the ball or pull it out before lateral, but it's still very nice. and it's probably there i just havent figured it out yet.

    ------------------------

im so confused as to why there is not at least a one time option to switch from pass to run as qb or tuck the ball completely. even when i get out of the pocket and hold RT to sprint as i use right thumbstick to change stance to the outside by moving it in a cirular motion (which helps) my player doesn't run and put the ball down until at least a yard past the line of scrimmage... and even then i can't tuck the ball, i can only switch which arm he is carrying it with and this slows the run down and makes for easy fumbles? what am i missing is the game broken or?

  • @ManiaC00L the ability to decide to run and leave the pocket as a runner when everyone is covered or theres an opening is a critical component of MOST modern qb's and is crucial to gameplay realism.

@ManiaC00L although I do not use mobile QBs I would not mind if mobile QBs would be a multi-dimensional weapon. but since there are these abilities and x-factors allowing the most mobile quarterbacks to be perfectly accurate (even in situations where they run full-speed straight towards their own goalline throwing for 30+ yards) ...

from my perspective, introducing abilities and x-factors contributed to make the game more monotonous. some abilities are just too overpowered.
  • Please EA. add the feature back. it is game-changing and not having it as an option is brutal. Because a lot of players that play as Lamar want to see his scrambling and run potential. Please it would be great having that feature back as it really helps to make runs easier. IT ALSO helps to switch up the game style and makes it different that just the regular throwing.

  • Yeah facts i hate it how it was here all this time and now since Lamar is popping off it motivates you to scramble but you cant even do that properly anymore. Its sad. Hopefully they bring it back
