Hopefully you have been able to fix this by now but if not we'll help get you back on the field. Do you happen to have the game installed on an external hard drive and have you tried changing the DNS on your console? Others that were freezing at the menu or in modes were able to fix this by making a slight network adjustment.

I've seen loading issues where a game is installed on the external and updates are installed on the internal (or vise-versa). That can cause performance issues, so if you indeed use an external hard drive try deleting the game, unplug it, verify no Madden files are on the internal and then install again.
