Okay, I think I have something here. I hope I can explain it with my bad english.
First, it has never been so bad for me. I got in EVERY game a 20 - 30 seconds freeze with "connection lost" error message. But I found something out.
I play in window mode by the way. Each time it's frozen for longer, I pressed ALT + TAB to make the window inactive. This had the effect that the game went on again. Sometimes immediately, sometimes after a few seconds. I repeated that with every long freeze. And that happened often! As I said, it has never been so bad. It froze 8 to 12 times per game. But whenever I pressed ALT + TAB, the game went on. I played so three games and I had no "lost connection" message anymore. For me, it makes no sense.
@EA_BlueberryMaybe the developer can do something with this information.
EDIT:
I figured out that Madden automatically switched the priority from "Real Time" to "High". I had to change the priority back to "Real Time" several times while playing. Maybe that's why I suddenly have so many freezings.

Madden20.exe priority "real time"
I see exactly the same thing, but I open the task manager and that unfreezes the game.

Madden20.exe priority "real time"

@turbochumDoes it always change the priority automatically for you too?
I think I found the reason for the freezings. Each time the game freezes, Madden changes the priority from "Real Time" to "High." - 6 years ago
@Perseus1986
Not sure. My OS does not allow me to set Real-time (maybe due to privileges), and I don't want to do it anyway. So, I have never tried real-time. I have only tried high or normal priority. Maybe high priority is marginally better. When I set to high it stays at high. - 6 years ago@turbochum Oh, okay. In my case, I have the best performance if I set to "real time". But Madden changes it every time to "High" during the game and this seems the reason for the freezings.

Your computer should be changing the game to high priority because you should never run a game with real time priority. The problem isn't that it is being switched to high but it is that the game is horrendously optimized for some CPU's. EA claims that the minimum requirements for this game is an older i3. Either our i5's should be able to run in normal priority with NO PROBLEM, or EA straight lied about the required specs. The lack of dev response and the support team refusing to admit the problem is straight embarrassing at this point
- 6 years ago@CargoJorts Yes, I think that the game is so bad optimized for some CPU's, is the reason why I have to change the priority to real time.
But in the current status of the game, that's the best I can do. I installed a tool that sets the priority permanently to real time and since the release of the game, that has been the best performance so far. I played now 4 games and I had just one or two short freezes. The game still stuttering but it is defently playable.
This is unacceptable and I hope the developers will fix this in the future so I can play Madden 20 as smooth and without having to change the priority as Madden 19.

The problem is not the stuttering. The problem are the freezings.
why freezes the game? And why unfreezes the game when I do the window inactiv with ALT + TAB?
I thought it had something to do with the connection to the server but the game also freezes in offline mode. The only thing I know is that every time the game freezes the CPU usage goes up to 100% and stays there. I have no idea what the game is trying to achieve in this moment. He definitely doesn't load something from the hard disk.
If I do nothing in Ultimate Team, I get a "lost connection" error message and return to the main menu.
If I do nothing in offline franchise or offline exhibition, I can continue playing after 20-40 seconds until the next freeze. The only thing that works every time to continue the game is to make the window inactive.

NVIDIA Driver 436.02 (08/20/2019) - 6 years agoI think that Denuvo anti-tamper technology that Madden 20 uses can cause the same problems all you guys have. Denuvo is famous for controversies with high CPU usage...
Maybe Denuvo causes issues, maybe not. Maybe you guys need to downgrade your cutting edge motherboards, processors, graphics cards... The ridiculous thing about this is that multi-billion dollar company won't resolve issues with their best seller. What do you guys think?
If this is not resolved in the next week and a couple days before my Origin premiere account renews, you can be absolutely certain that my subscription will be cancelled, Origin will be removed from my PC, and I will vow to never give EA another penny of my hard earned money. EVER. And you all should too. This is utter disrespect to an entire community of your supporters. We’ve sat idly by, putting up with your bull crap excuses and questions and for what? So you can ask us if we’ve unplugged other USB sources? REALLY? A company the size of EA should have someone on staff who is at least halfway competent to fix issues like this. This has gone on for a month now with LITERALLY ZERO PROGRESS. It seems as though there’s one of three things going on; you know how to fix the problem and don’t care enough too, you can’t figure out the problem and refuse to put the proper tech support on the case, or, and this is the one I think is going on, you guys don’t care enough to even try and fix it. Absolute joke of a company, joke of a game, and joke of a response. I guess we should’ve known better that to trust a shady micro transaction run company such as Electronic Arts.
Its really a damn shame that the NFL and EA have this down to a monopoly for anyone that wants to play football games.

If it's really Denuvo and not anything that EA coded causing the problem, all of Europe goes on vacation in August and nothing gets done, so it might well be another month before the performance gets fixed, IF it gets fixed.

I heard that a patch is out for PC today. Anyone checked it out to see if anything changed?
- 6 years ago@frakker503 Still having stutters on fps and audio after patch, EA is a joke.
i5 4690k
GTX 970
8GB ram
with same graphic settings as in madden 19 which ran perfectly at locked 60fps. - 6 years ago
For me it seems to be marginally better in that the audio is less choppy. Also, played two games with no freezes, but I do get an occasional momentary pause (<1 sec). The sense I get is that the main problem still exists and this patch is only a tweak to make it less annoying. I hope EA continues to work on fixing the main problem.
- 6 years ago@turbochum yes, same here.
I have been experiencing stuttering since first week of August. No issues initially. Every update the stuttering is worsening. EA Help claims it is due to Nvidia not capable. GTX 1050. And a host of other remedies that be not cure the problem. Head to Head is unplayable... all else is borderline if you are extremely patient. Any comments or suggestions??
- 6 years ago@marcosmars313 I'm back to Madden 19.
Gameplay stutters, audio also. game freezes about 20+ seconds after all game play. All suggestions by EA Help ineffective. Not A GPU problem. connectivity problem or anything on my end. Gameplay did not stutter at launch. Been dealing with this since Aug. 6. Contact EA Help after every patch and update. Those clowns waste a ton of time just to get them to report this bug to DEV team.
