I found a way around the trade system since I completely agree with you. Add yourself as the coach of the team you want to trade with and as long as the settings in the league are set to accept all offers you can basically trade anyone you want from your team for a good player. Even a crappy draft pick will allow for you to trade for an elite player doing this. Just make sure your salary cap is turned off otherwise you won’t be able to discuss contracts with them
