    I think it is important that you pay attention to some of the more coherent posts. The problem is not an inability to purchase traits. The problem is one of cost display. More specifically when you purchase the trait and choose to "Submit" and save your choice, it takes an additional amount. For example: I'm trying to purchase Aggressive Catch for Chris Conley. It's cost is 2250 and I have 2711. I am able to "Increase" it, but when I choose "Submit", despite having 461 XP still available, it won't proceed and says the trait can not be purchased.

Summarize your bug When spending player XP in Franchise mode, when you submit the XP, you suddenly lose (or occasionally gain) XP. For example, WR Avery Kempfert has 2,223 XP. I purchase the Cover Ball trait, increasing it from Brace vs. Med Hit to Brave vs. All for 1,350 XP. His available XP correctly shows as 873. When I hit submit, his available XP suddenly drops to 573. This has a much higher impact with larger XP spending (I purchased Normal to Superstar development on someone and lost around 10000 XP more than I should have spent on it). On rare occasions, I saw the available XP increase by a small amount, but this was only when I purchased something very cheap. This bug occurs when purchasing traits only, as far as I can tell.
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Purchase a trait in franchise mode.
What happens when the bug occurs? You lose more XP than you spent.
What do you expect to see? The proper amount of XP removed when purchasing traits.
What is your gamertag/PSN ID? [edit: email address removed]
Date/time issue occurred 8/22 and 8/23 at many times, most recently around 11 PM.

    EA, this needs fixed. I will continue bumping a couple of different threads about this issue until we receive an official response. This is happening on both PS4 and XBox One.

      One of the EA devs responded to this post and said they were working on it. No updates yet tho. Hang in there.

        I have had this issue as well. I dont know how ot is calculating the traits, but it takes away extra xp points each time. Sucks to be losing points because of this glitch. Hope its fixed soon. Once it is fixed, will it carry over into a franchise that has already started, or would we have to start all over?

      Hello Currently in a 32 man CFM and I have purchased STAR development with Isaiah Ford who is now 22 after making the Pro Bowl. He didn't get Dynamic development but he did get about 38,000 experience points in the off-season. I used those experience points to get him to STAR and now when I do gold-medal drills he's only getting 404 XP on 300% experience points sliders. However he is getting 900 XP for the focus training. He is getting very little experience points even being the number one wide receiver on my team. We just did the first rookie draft last night, and I have rookies getting much more at deeper depth chart positions. I also have Davante Adams on my team at the number two spot and he is getting 2700 experience points per gold drill. EA needs to address this bug immediately.

    This is my bug report. I merged my accounts and am bumping this thread because it needs to be fixed. I'm no longer playing Madden until this and the dissappearing traded draft picks issue is fixed. Still have not heard a reply from anyone at EA for either of the issues.

      I haven't heard or had any problems with disappearing draft picks? And I trade for quite a lot, too.

    This happened to me too in CFM with Fournette I would try to buy a couple traits and it would say "this package could not be purchased" and when I went back to the screen his XP was gone too. I tried with other players as well and keep getting the message.

    Same thing happens to me on ps4 as well. Get it fixed EA
