It's also a joke they upped the system requirements starting with Madden 21 for PC when the game engine dates back to 2013. There no reason why a Windows 7 or 8.1 PC cannot play the latest Madden. Also Origin blocks you from installing it on a PC not running 10. This basically the same game since Madden 19 for PC yet for some reason greedy EA had to jack up the system requirements .
There's also zero reason to still be running anything pre windows 10. But yeah, screw EA, Microsoft and Sony for making whatever deal they made to try and drive useless console sales.

There have been many threads discussing this at length and EA just doesn't care.
Let's also look at nba 2k22 for pc, wwe 2k22 for PC, and mlb the show 22.
Both 2k22 games are current gen on PC, even though we are about to have a hardware launch in September where you'll get double console performance for half the price.
We have faster ssds, hardware that is 3x more powerful..and soon we will have hardware so much more powerful its going to be hard to put a number on it.
We can not get the same games as the 2019 zen 2 apu's but we will have 14gbps gen 5 ssds, 4080s that will be 5-6 times more powerful than consoles, and zen 4 cpus that are so far above and beyond zen 2, it's crazy.
It is laziness.
Mlb the show 22 is ported for switch, but not releasing on PC even though it's on Xbox gamepass now.
The devs are all lazy and the console communities think we all cheat. The thing is..thats fine just use an anticheat or...here's a bright idea...don't do cross-platform just let pc play against pc.
I have had every madden, nba 2k, and mlb the show, going back decades.
Wwe 2k22 just released this month and we are still getting the 2013 version.
Does this mean they will do madden 23 and 2k23 as 2013 apps also? That's a 10 year gap. You should just not even bother making the game for PC, like how the show just seems to be ignoring PC.
These sports games would be so crispy in 4k with high frame rates. I have a ps5 but I don't play it and I refuse to buy these games on console.
I really do wonder what's going to happen with the next round of sports titles in the fall.
If they are 2013 apps still, it's unforgivable. The damn industry needs to stop making games for the previous generation so gaming in general can advance

@EA_Blueberryis madden 23 going to be current gen on PC or will we be stuck with an app from 2013 again?
Within a month of madden 23 coming out, we will have yet another generation of cpus and gpus, yet EA hasn't even caught up to the last one. Even one of the better looking games, grid legends, runs at like 200 fps on any capable graphics card.
This may be EA's last chance to make an effort and regain some sports fans.
I'm sure many of the fans who cancelled their subscriptions would be back if they weren't stuck with an app from 2013 that runs on console hardware which is freaking zen 2, when zen 4 is coming out in august-september.
Shafted with;
madden
Fifa
Nba 2k
Wwe 2k
Mlb the show
We do not need to be making any games for previous gen consoles, nevermind limiting PC players to previous gen apps when we will have rtx 4090s at 6-7 times the power of a console. Next gen. LOL
Please don't continue this disgusting trend. Madden 21 can be excused, barely. Madden 22 can be a mistake, but madden 23 would be unforgivable, and I would boycott the entire publisher.
All I'm asking is for EA to update Madden this year. Ps4 is from 2013. I don't believe I should have to ask to update the game to the new standard, 10 years later, but here we are.
It should have options to upgrade features over the console version as well. Playing in 4k at high frame rates would be an upgrade, but maybe they offer better lighting, or who knows.
I would much prefer the game to not be available on PC, then to have it be available and be some 2013 re-run that we've all seen a billion times.

I'd also like to know if Madden 23 on PC will be the PS5/Xbox Series X version or still based on consoles released nearly a decade ago. If Madden on PC is not the PS5/Xbox Series X version and/or NHL doesn't come to the PC this year I will have to cancel my EA Play Pro subscription and play other games instead or buy them when they are heavily discounted or offered for free. Hell - raise the price of EA Play Pro if you are afraid you won't recoup the costs, I would much rather pay more for EA Play Pro and get the updated version of Madden and NHL game included than have to purchase NHL separately and get an old school version of Madden.

@misterflugietime
We do not have any official news to share regarding the future of the Madden franchise right now. As soon as we hear details we'll announce them with you as soon as possible. We know PC players have been requesting an upgraded version for Madden 22 throughout the year and relayed those requests to the team. I know this is not the answer you were hoping for, but if any details trickle the community team's way we'll share it with you. - 4 years ago
@EA_BlueberryThe PC community is watching... do not let us down again.
- 4 years ago@EA_Blueberry No one is asking about madden 22 anymore.
More and more people are selling their consoles and getting into the PC space.
EA should not underestimate us again - 4 years ago
The all-new FieldSENSE Gameplay System in Madden NFL 23 equips players with more control at every position in every mode and is a new foundation for consistent, ultra-realistic gameplay. Only available on PlayStation®5 and Xbox Series X|S. Madden NFL 23 coming August 19, 2022.
Specs are still the same as for madden 22 seems like the PC community has been neglected for the third year now

I just wonder what the excuse will be this time.
Last year it was "we're still early in the transition to next gen."
A whole year later, what now?
- JMEllis20204 years agoSeasoned Adventurer
These all sound like excuses. Madden 23 next gen has been left out for PC as well. THREE YEARS!!! Its going to take you more than three years to figure out that PC players that are playing Madden 23 on PC can handle anything Next Gen can?
This is so sad...and during a year where you are supposed to be honoring John Madden and his legacy on the cover. He would have wanted all players to be able to use all features if possible, but you continue to neglect the PC community year after year. Its understandable with the Xbox one and PS4, but not the PC. I hope EA loses the exclusive license soon...I'm ready for a company that actually focuses on what their fan base wants over the easiest way out to be able to make an NFL game. Maybe then we will get the true football experience like John Madden wanted everyone to have. - 4 years ago
I just noticed that.
It actually makes me sick.
I guess fieldsense is too complicated for the gen 5 ssd or rtx 4090 that I'll have by the time this launches.
WTF

Because Windows 10 is beta software basically and buggy. Microsoft fired their Windows QA team back in Nov 2014 so now regular people like you and me are the guinea pigs and part of the Windows Insider approach of beta testing.
- JMEllis20204 years agoSeasoned Adventurer
Doesn't seem to effect other games, they all work fine on Windows 10. Sounds like another excuse to me
- 4 years ago
Madden 19 and 20's requirements were 7, 8.1 and 10. 21 axes 7 and 8.1 in favor of 10 and Origin blocking you from installing on those OS's EA pulled the same move with NFS Heat. The current Madden engine for PC dates back to 2013. There's no excuse for EA to pull this lame move. 10 is buggy is general usability compared to 7 or 8.1. Windows 10 would randomly be laggy and unable to connect to the Internet or fail to synchronize with the Windows Time server resulting in a date way ahead of 2022 and breaking Windows Spotlight and required me to do a in place repair upgrade. These types of things never happened to me on Windows 7 or 8.1.

I made a reddit thread on r/madden. A few console trolls showed up but it did alright with likes.
Just saying how unacceptable it is and how no one should buy any EA product.
I'm just trying to make as much noise as possible. Maybe some of you can voice your displeasure there as well on madden or ea's sub.
I hope nba 2k doesn't do the same, but we will see. I'm really a football fan at heart and just disappointed
- JMEllis20204 years agoSeasoned Adventurer@CBlan1224 I honestly don't think EA cares about what people say. The only reason #FixMaddenFranchise got any traction was it was across all platforms...PC is so small of a player base that I don't think they even care about investigating if they could do it. If they did they would have told us the true reason, instead of making excuses all year last year during Madden 22. Its so sad and I'm disappointed...John Madden would be disgusted with how they are treating a portion of the fan base for the past 3 years...and the whole fan base for the past 10+ years...

I really don't know what to say. Just look at the screenshots on the steam page. I am so sick of being in current gen hell with 2012 level assets.

PCs are generally more powerful than Gen 9 consoles. I don't get it. I did get a warning for posting here, and I'm not entirely sure why, so I have to be careful (I think it was for @-ing the community managers), but I mean, for real? PC players are getting shafted.
