AutoSave/Forced Non Save During Missions
So I know this is probably going to have been done to death, but I feel the need to express this.
I'm a dad of 2 kids, a wife, and 2 jobs...both of which are technical and thus 24x7. The inability to save the game where and when I need to, to exit the game where and when I need to, and to join my family or take care of other real life issues where and when I need to is a SERIOUS degradation to game play and enjoyment.
Years ago I stopped playing MMO games: I no longer have the time to sit down in a dedicated fashion for hours on end. Flash forward to 2017 and my SINGLE PLAYER GAME is stopping me from saving at specific points.
Yes, I get "save hacking" (as it's lovingly referred to) is considered a determent to the "difficulty" of the game.
Starting around Primary Mission 4, the missions get long enough that several hours need to be dedicated to completing each one...and without the ability to save I am faced with the following options:
1) Lose upwards of 10 minutes of work (or more) upon choosing to quit in the middle of the mission. This almost ALWAYS includes either having to re-play a combat (and the associated RANDOM loot drops) or work back through a long conversation chain...and usually both and often multiples of each.
or 2) Schedule my time whereby I don't play the game till a weekend where I know people will be out of the house and I can guarantee several hours of time without interruptions.
This is ridiculous. I stopped playing online games because I didn't have the time to dedicate to them...my single player games should not be made to lock me in the same way.
The MINIMUM you could do would be to indicate at what points in the mission the "checkpoint" occurs (the places where an autosave is forced)...that way I know when my last one was and how much work I'm going to lose when I have an emergency crop up.
This is an RPG, not an FPS. It is a single player game, not an MMO, not an RTS, and not a MOBA. Please kindly quit "protecting" me from "cheesing" a game I've chosen to spend time on. Allow me to save my game where and when I want to save my game so I can continue to enjoy my single player story on my time at my leisure.
Your customer base includes adults who have outside lives beyond our screens...and (in case this wasn't understood) we happen to be the customers with the MOST DISCRETIONARY CAPITAL to spend on your games. The teens gripe when your game's price is 69.99 instead of 65.99, others of us wonder whether there's a $120 version of the game that comes in a cool box.
I'm not asking for much...just the ability to save and quit when and where I need to.
Thank you for the feedback, I've seen others requesting more frequent save options and I can't say I disagree.
If/when this gets added we'll be sure to let folks know I'll be keeping an eye out for this on incoming patch notes.
