Also had this problem. Doesn't matter if you hesitate or just go for the kill - it bugs out to unplayable framerate. All other dialogue options don't result in the bug. Unfortunately I need the renegade points at this point so my game will be on pause until this gets fixed.

Same problems here, both with Dr. Heart and with imprisoned Salarians on Virmire. Hefty fps drop after the action finishes, with no way to remedy the problem except reloading an earlier save or leaving the area.

Please fix this.
I just lost a chunk of progress due to this, because I stopped hard saving at every corner and mainly utilized the quicksaves. Had to use an earlier Autosave.
edit: As RagnarokCzD said above, it's possible to kill the Salarians if you first clear the path until you reach the Beacon where you ...
Spoilerhave the conversation with Sovereign.
Before triggering the conversation with Sovereign ...... go back the path you have cleared, then trigger the killing of the Salarians if you want the Renegade points, then endure the 5 fps-walk-of-shame back to the beacon. Somewhere along the way, the framerate will stabilize and everything is fine again.
