Yes I experienced that bug in Mass Effect 1 but solved it by enabling console and typing in Viewmode unlit. And yes this bug I'm experiencing in Mass Effect 2 occurs everywhere. With the in game graphics settings, which are very small in selection, I tried turning setting it to windowed mode, changed the resolution, turned off high quality bloom, dynamic shadows, light environment shadows, film grain and dept of field in the game files.
I tried turning off the steam overlay to no effect. Changing the resolution did not work. Running in compatibility mode did not help. Running in windowed mode did not work. I ran a check on both my disks and found no problems. Uninstalled all my graphic drivers and installed older ones did not work. Problem is still present but I greatly appreciate your attempts to solve my problem @holger1405.
I doupt that this problem is related to the CPU Bug, but that hardly helps. It could be a Hardware problem or a permission problem.
Try to run the "MassEffect2.exe" as Administrator > Test
Go to your > ">drive<:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Mass Effect 2\redist" folder and install the "PhysX_9.09.0814_SystemSoftware" by hand. > Test
Try a clean boot and test the Game afterwards. This way we can rule out that some third party software or services are responsible.
(Make sure the real time scanner of your antivirus software is also disabled.)
Create a new Administrator account on your Machine and run the Game there.
If that also doesn't helps, can you install the Game to the other Hard drive you have?
