i actually find that kind of funny (the sad kind of funny), that so many people are whining about ryder being a "rookie" leader, and not a bada** right off the bat. i was there, on the BSN forums, page after page of people saying that's exactly what they wanted, with few detractors... it's **** like this that makes me hate people, well in general. keep, in mind i was someone who said it was an interesting idea, and i still think so. but, of all the idiotic things to gripe over. *sigh*

I get your point. i was on BSN only during the trilogy then i left because it was a toxic environment for me, so honestly i didn't know that they were asking for a rookie.
i ... well i don't think it is a bad idea per se, it is how it has been delivered that feels wrong to me. Horizon have got a young female protagonist... but she is a goddamn badass even with her fraglity and all the s**t that happend to her. So you can definitely make a mature story with a young protagonist if you have good writers.
But again, it's only my opinion.

Well I'm 40 and went through the entire trilogy.. and also played this one. TBH I actually love this game even more than I loved ME1 or at least as much. Shep and Ryder are different characters- they are supposed to be. You have a crew full of civvies that just happen to poses skills useful to the pathfinder. Its not supposed to be structured the same. I would not for a second say it is lighter in terms of story though. What the Kett do is very horrible. I also don't recall finding some place folks were eating human meat in the original trilogy 😖. There was some very story dark area's in this game. Easily as dark as some of the stuff we found in ME1.
I love the discovery side too. From having zero clue about anything remnant to having more info about them by the end - yet still enough mystery to want more.
I seriously don't understand a lot of peoples negativity over this game.

I literally...am pissed that I still can't go further into this game because of a bug.
That being said, "I think i pissed that one off, maybe because I shot it in the face." Are...are you serious? I would've spaced Liam if I got the chance to do so, he's supposed to be comic relief and i get that, BUT Drak is more humorous that Liam.
I really feel like the team doesn't FULLY take in the seriousness of the plot (both in game AND back in Montreal). Yeah you are some noob little spitfuck that has no real knowledge of the situation...but regardless BOTH Ryder's and Alec had some form of formal training from the Alliance. This laxxed "I don't know what to do" attitude is mind numbingly boring, and I think the real reason behind that is because WE lack an ACTUAL Para/Ren system. It down plays the story as bland because of that, AND because no matter what you say the other option says the EXACT SAME THING. I'd rather play as a gd Krogan.

Drack has probably the most character and best quotes among the crew members so comparing him to Liam is not a good comparison although Liam aint that bad character as many people think but whatever, its just my opinion.
Your crew here consists mostly of people with the same age like you, simply because at that age they thought its a good thing to start a new life somewhere else. Which is why Alec brought the team together like that, young people usually having better ideas, more keen to explore and try new things. Because thats when people do the stupidest, craziest things, as we get older many habits die, we get sloppier and so on. Obviously they are not dedicated veterans/warlords (Wrex), person with perfect genes (Miranda), a justicar (Samara) or the craziest biotic in the galaxy (Jack) just to name a few. But thats the point, now you start from 0 with your team and get more and more insight of whats going on around you instead of getting a crew full of professionals and a hero like Shepard, which is why its not called ME4.
There is a paragon/renegade system, called quick time events. For example shooting the Cardinal, shooting Reyes, hugging Cora - in the trilogy the previous 2 would be marked with red icon, while the last one blue. Its even telling you what's gonna happen.
