Invisible objects and parts of UI

All model ships are invisible and more annoyingly, the borders and arrows on the weapon workbench are invisible. It leaves me wondering what else is invisible that I don't know about (1st playthrough).

    Sorry, I think the gpu driver was for a specific game a while ago (maybe borderlands 2 optimized or something). I'm cleaning up old driver installs just in case and then installing 314.22.

    Let's have the needed graphics information first, then we'll see if there is an answer.  GPU name and model, Driver Version ID and release date, DirectX version and release date.  That will do it.

    NVidia GTX 570 gpu. DX 11 (don't know release date...where do I find that?). Nvidia driver 9.18.13.1106 release date 1/18/2013.
