Is The Milky Way Really That Special or Was BioWare Lazy?

Also I wanted to thank everyone for sharing their opinion.  I wanted to make it clear that I appreciate your answers in case that isn't obvious.

I was disappointed at first, but then I realised that in the Milky Way its almost the same. 
In Andromeda we have one Cluster...in the Milky Way we have the whole galaxy with several clusters, but each cluster usually has only one advanced species.
Asari, Turian etc all evolved in another cluster... So I guess with a sequel or DLC where we might get to see other clusters of Andromeda we will see other alien species too 🙂

I was comparing one space game to another, that also was made by the same company.  As I implied before, they could have had another race here, also develop a method for them to move around in fashion similar to Mass Relays.

Also, they could have easily been trying to be lazy..  If I'm making a new story and I don't want to feature as many races as I did in my past one, it doesn't mean I won't come up with a good/feasible reason to explain that aspect of the new tale.

Think about it like this, if the Angarans had come to the Milky Way to look for a new home, even if they had only happened upon Earth and its surrounding star systems, they would have encountered a multitude of races.  I agree that the game feels like it needed more development.  Especially when I look at the dialogue, there were parts where I got to then end and felt like, "Wait.  Was that it?" and not in a way that you can tell there will be a sequel (though sometimes sure) but in a way that had me look on youtube to make sure I did the whole relationship or what have you, lol.

I wasn't saying they didn't have in game reasons that work.  All I was asking was if their were very real life circumstances that could have influenced  that story.  It's fake so they could have done anything they wanted.

Granted we visit well over 50 planets, could it have made sense that we encountered more aliens?  I think so.  So why didn't we?  Now if you believe the story wasn't effected by "external" factors or desires (such as a desire to not have as many aliens in it right now because they didn't feel like doing all that work) then that's your opinion.  I wasn't sure so I asked what I thought was a reasonable question.

The difference being humans let other races in the angara do not, they were specifically staying away from other races after what the kett did,

So although on earth alone is multiple species, the angara are different, they werent open to relations with other species.

I suppose I was just pointing out that whether humans wanted others to be able to explore around the solar system or not, those other aliens would have regardless.  We might have had the ability to stop them from taking residence on Earth, but stopping them from simply being around 30 plus tsar systems and 100 other planets would have not been possible.

Hence, even though the Angarans keep to themselves, we still landed on their planet and we were on a planet that had none of them on it,

The Kett are still around and so are the Remnant.  The harsh reality for the Angarans is, even if they decided they didn't want the Milk Way galaxies there, we weren't going to go anywhere else (at least not in the immediate future) and there would be practically nothing they would have been able to do to stop us.

The more I think about this discussion, it seems to become a situation of humans being special rather than our galaxy.  Which is typical since that is what we are and it is our story, lol.

I'd really like to see some more new aliens and if one or two of them can look like aliens that your average human really would be attracted to (and look like they would possibly see humans as attractive) that would be pretty nice as well.

But was this a situation where BioWare didn't have time, money, and or ideas for other aliens (we basically only have two here (or 1 depending on how you look at it)) or do you think they were just trying to make our galaxy a special one?

I've taken the time to read through the thread as it stands and there are a lot of valid points. Lore for Andromeda does cover a lot of what species are present. What it seems to miss out on is that for the people that travelled ahead of the arks, to establish the nexus before the arks arrived, where the heck are the other races from the milkyway. Sure the Quarian Ark had engine issues. But the first people to venture to andromeda to build the nexus had Human, Assarian, Salarian and Krogan..... and bugger all else nor explanation of why not. In answer to the original question is bioware being lazy, YES THEY BLOODY WELL ARE. I'd be a fool to think it being all bioware without EA leaning on them to keep to a certain budget and spew out andromeda (inquisition) at a production super pace but from my standpoint I really do think you OP are right.

From the speed of production standpoint, the ludicrous amount of bugs, game breaking bugs across all platforms + the PC port. Yes Port, i said it. A rush patch that resets the players settings making all the little tweaks we used to get the game running in the first place disapear, so until WE realized the patch cleared them, we're working through 2 iterations of major bugs, the released bugs that weren't covered by the patch, and then the bugs introduced by the patch... yay! 

Conclusion the Milky way lore was special, but then too there should be more in andromeda that isn't there. The kett also have a striking resemblence to protheans with a side of Kunari headgear borrowed from Inquisition. The nexus is a cop out for races other than the four main milky way ark ships. Blows my mind that a Quarian didn't hitchhike a ride on another ark for a pilgrimage or prior rides for the nexus. I think it boils down to money. EA will milk the game and introduce the other races with DLC.... the chance of a new NPC team member with each added race would not surprise me.

Well,for one,the entire cluster was a dead cluster that the Jardaan teraformed and populated with a single species that they engineered.

Lol, I thought I was the only person that felt like this and that I only felt this way because I was having problems letting go of the trilogy.  I still keep calling my Ryder Shepherd by accident to be honest, lol.

But I forgot the Drell and the Rachni too.

Anyway, I just feel like, granted the number of alien species we encountered in the Milky Way, I don't think it would have been impossible to at least encountered 2 more in the first installment of Andromeda and have it still not change the main story significantly.

But you are right and you bring up something I didn't even think about, the other races traveling ahead... or lack thereof.  Very interesting points all around.

Well easy way to rectify this.  During character creation on your next playthrough just name your Ryder Shepard Ryder  😃

All I would add to this is that The Milky Way had the added impact of The Reapers leaving Relays and other technology lying around on purpose so that when new forms of life emerged they would eventually have access to advanced technology that would increase their chances of survival, whilst also ensuring that these species developed along Reaper-approved lines. Whilst they were definitely the antagonists of the original trilogy it can't be forgotten that the decisions the Reapers made improved the chances of growth and shorter-term survival of intelligent life in the Milky Way.

Andromeda is bigger than Milky Way, but that doesn't mean it has to have intelligent life or advanced civilization spread all around like MW had. It might had only a few, if one wishes to create it that way. There's no mandatory rule stating that it must have more than Milky Way.

The comparison, however, weights on new things to see. Although I'm one that would enjoy seeing less of Milky Way and more of Andromeda, it might be that known advanced races might be still largely unknown, if any, and planned for future installments, first contacts perhaps in a more meaningful and harder way than this game.
