By the time I got to Elaaden (late, I know) I had learned to ignore pretty much everything else and just go activate the Remnant climate control equipment first. It makes all missions and activities easier.
On Elaaden, except for the blinding white screen from time to time (at least if you drive into a sink hole there is no penalty) you can instantly walk around without burning to death. Same thing on Voeld. No freezing, and it happens immediately. As far as I can tell, Eos is the only place you have to leave and re-visit later to give the radiation some time to dissipate.
